Purely my opinion here---There are only a few innovative entities/companies out there. These few know, develop, and understand their own kernel and code, because they designed/originated it. Then putting the hardware they design into use with that innovation and also meeting demand of the consumer needs/wants is a tough shoe to fill. How they go about it is up to them.
They are driven by us, the consumer wants and then some. How they get it to us is up to them. Whether it be a device with 500GB of storage and 12GB of RAM or not...
Apple is in a league of its own so I see it pointless in debating what is a better device or not, but I respect a device that is original. In the end it is hard to come close to that combination of owning the OS from scratch and the device that runs it and everything in between. Google could be only other company that will probably top Apple this year as far as I am concerned and it is not like they even need to...
Samsung already shot themselves in the foot, but they were never a contender to begin with. Like every other Android phone manufacture/OEM out there minus a couple of them, have simply leached off of the Android OS/kernel (which they have the right to do if they choose...) to show off a shiny new device every few months.---Purely my opinion here.

Every time any well respected / "insider" / ANALYST has tried to predict features in the next iPhone they have got it wrong
Apple always delivers LESS
I guarantee that the iPhone7 will NOT have waterproofing in any manner shape or form
There will be a battery tweak not mentioned and I doubt that it will be 3Gb either
NO WATER PROOFING WHATSOEVER.
Reason is Apple is building up to the ANNIVERSARY EVENT is in 2017 so then you will see a new design (copied no doubt but all people who know how to use the compare tool can see the change inn design from the iPhone5S to iPhone6 retained in the iPhone6S)
"If anything, the only potential device to dethrone the iphone 6S in pure speed might be the 2016 nexus with android in its purest form"
Whilst there is an acknowledgment that Android do have more features, there is this chorus that just because it scores high in benchmarks that makes up for the continued omissions, 10 years later still no memory expansion!
IPhones are designed NOT to share' with any other platform and being a TWO premium smartphone user you can't do this if one is an iPhone.
Not knowing or really caring that much whether the iPhone7 will lose the 3.5mm earphone jack, I await to see the reason put forward if it does
