Calls are not free as mentioned. Your data will get reduced for both incoming as well as outgoing calls. 1GB Costs INR 125 on an average not INR 50 as mentioned. Look at their prepaid plans to understand. "Absolutely fee calls" is a myth and is a big lie by Mukesh Ambani himself. I never thought Indias' richest man is so unethical and greedy and envious of other players.

For heavy data users (above 10GB every month) , i think the new airtel prepaid plan is much better than reliance jio.
In airtel,if you recharge with Rs.1499 once, after that you can get 1GB data for Rs.51 and 5GB for Rs.251 with 28 days validity. The 1499 recharge is valid for 1 year. If a user needs 10 GB data per month, in airtel i can get it for Rs.625. And 20GB for Rs. 1125 per month.

In reliance jio i can get 10GB for 999 and 20GB for 1499. So airtel is much cheaper than jio for heavy users.

AnonD-580840, 05 Sep 2016Are voice calls truly free? If yes, why does jio have prep... more1. Yes voice calls are free. But it can be done only if both caller and receiver have a VoLTE enabled headset. BUT what if i want to call my mother who uses samsung guru ? So you need to have your mobile topup with reliance jio prepaid vouchers.
        2. If you are doing a video call, data will deduct from your account. Just like it happens now incase of viber or skype.
And you need to keep your data enabled to do video or voice calls.
        3. Voice call is free. Data will not be deducted from our monthly packs. But still we need tk keep data on.

                          Are voice calls truly free?
If yes, why does jio have prepaid topup vouchers for talk time on their website.
Will I be charged if I call a land line/fixed line, or a number which is not on data/wifi?
Is it required to enable data continuously to make and receive calls?
Other than ISD calls which other calls will be charged?
