Its True, 09 Sep 2016this really happened to the families car.
I was there when... moreSo this guy said he was there and saw it..
Well if you were around, then why didn't you mention to the guy "Hey you know that the note 7's have been recalled don't you, don't use yours if you haven't had a replacement".
Other people are saying that the guy maybe didn't know about the recall, But then all the carriers have been notified to let their customers know, so he'd have received an email with this request (Don't give me the maybe didn't have access to email, he's got a smart phone that has access to email).
The amount of damage that was done to the car is something that an exploding battery would not have done, and who in their right might would have left a phone charging in a car, in the heat of the day, and he would have had to have had the engine running for it to be charging up, so maybe the engine actually had a fault and that caused the problem.

AnonD-106186, 09 Sep 2016anyone with common sense should know they shouldnt leave th... moreSo true. I could understand him not being informed about or ignoring the recall, but anybody with common sense would not put his phone in a Jeep on a hot florida day, AND IT WAS CHARGING IN THE CAR!!! The phone got so hot it exploded.
Of course, i feel sorry for him and hope him the best + we need to know if he did the same thing with other Note phones,cz i dont think many phones would withstand those conditions.
Moral: PLZ PEOOLE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PHONES CHARGING IN A CAR, BECAUSE LITHIUM-IONS BATTERYS ARE DANGEROUS WHEN EXPOSED TO HIGH TEMPERATURES,I THINK.
Have a nice day, whoever is reading this.

The stupidity of people never fails to amaze me. It's either deliberate or dumb to keep using a device that has been recalled for a reason. If I were his insurance company he wouldn't get a single penny.

Something feels very strange about this. I know the battery is bad but is it really this bad that the phone keeps exploding everywhere. Either this was for insurance / done by competitors with great timing.
Poor Samsung. They gonna be hit hard.

Looks like highly biased article as there was no need of mentioning I phone and switching to note etc.

Wow what timing of this story. Now every American's heart would be deep in horror of Note7, they wont even touch the new lot of Note7 instead would buy the iPhone 7. Apart from that, a Jeep is a rugged SUV, i dont believe it can blow itself up by a phone's battery explosion, if only, the guy left his vehicle for a good 5-6 hours so that the interior might have burned the SUV inside out in that duration, other than that, it cannot just blow itself up in mere minutes or an hour.
