nokia are just gunna keep going down hill and have their market share eaten up by all other manufacturers, unless they make better smartphones with a better os! symbian is slow and outdated, wouldn't even consider getting the rubbish n8. market share is not evrything, LG has the 3rd highest market share but lost over $200 million, spamming the market with cheap clone phones wont result in profits. down with nokia!

Then I might use wifi over WiFi to videocall my Dad's MacBook for free.

Anonymous, 01 Nov 2010iphone sells half the amount in US itself, remaining half re... moreyou are right for some reason that half of the iphone were sold in USA. what about the other half? but for a phone that cost 700+ USD, it is still the best selling phone.

for who that said iphone is lack of feature. what kind of feature is that?
no card slot? no radio? no bluetooth file transfer? what else...?

                  - no card slot? do you really need to have a card slot when iphone has 16GB-32GB? remember this when you insert bigger memory, you phone will be slower

                  - no radio? i asked 158 people that i know, it turned out that only 14 of them like to listen to radio. other 144, they rarely listen to radio.

                  - no bluetooth file transfer? use ibluenova.

Sam, 01 Nov 2010I completely agree. This is Apple's peak. I predict thi... moreWrong.

Apple's sales always fall off in Q2 in expectation of a new model.

Windows mobile 7 will eat into Android sales, each one that is made = one less Android phone being made by the same manufacturer.

The only thing limiting Apple sales at the moment is making enough of them to keep up with demand, in all markets, worldwide.

iOS has plenty of potential, the 4.2 update coming soon adds even more functionality such as AirShare and AirPrint - streaming over wifi with new products such as Apple TV which integrates with iPhone's, iPads and iPod Touch's.

The App store is still growing and is ahead of all other competitors.

                          This is Apple's peak.
I predict this and you should take this prediction seriously because i also predicted SE will post a profit back in the first quarter, despite all the opposite expectations. I also predicted that iphone sales in 2Q will go down slightly..for the first time since the device is here.. which indeed happened.
Now why apple will start to slowly decrease after this imo?
                          A) competition finally caught up - the phone lost his freshness and innovation factor. IOS ain't soo new and cool anymore, it's facing mature and more than worthy alternatives all over the place. That was something you couldn't say in times when iphone cult started building and hyping up.
                          B) Google and Android. It's market has grown to the point where it can fully replace the app store. And future potential of the OS is phenomenal to the intimidating degree
                          C) Samsung is emerging in a really indicative way. 7 millions galaxy s phones sold in the quarter(compared to 9 million iphones 4) and predictions of 6 million galaxy tabs sold in the next three months (that is MORE than the ipad will sell !!!) is just a begining of building up ground for the next iterations and strong, devoted and growing customer base, in a way similar to apple's with the iphone.
                          D) Nokia, HTC & SE all have great potential to attack the market in the future. And they will.
                          E) Microsoft. This software behemoth will definately take his peace of future smartphone market

LG is losing money like hell but they sell many phones. Why would that be anything to calculate on?
Sony Ericcson on the other hand is making money but only selling 10.4 million phones. Isn't that better?

You have a phone that runs 10 years with no problem but are you gonna use that phone forever? Smartphones users who follows the trend buys a new phone every year. Iphone4 deserves the garbage bin, many things it is incapable of, the only reason why it sells well is because of people's influenced, those brainwashed by steve jobs. On N8 lagging, i have no idea why it happened to you but i have been using it since i bought it on launch day and i have no such problems so far.

It's pretty apparent now that Apple is a contender. I can see why people may not like them and they way they operate their business model but you can't deny the statistics here they're extremely impressive. They are 4th with one phone...that's unheard of.
