It seems that you have never seen a picture output by the 808 (8MP/12MP mod).. Go educate yourself and you'll be surprised.. To this day, sadly no phone has beaten the 808 in terms of image quality.. The 808 may have aged in terms of autofocus speed and accuracy but it will remain the king of image quality for at least 2 years to come, considering today's camera advancement pace..

XZ's shots are incredibly nice. The corner softness seems to be addressed this time which is one of the flaws of the previous xperia lineups. Noise levels are also kept low. This must be a nice smartphone that can offer a serious competition in the imaging department.

Cassy O, 11 Sep 2016You cheated, you zoomed in Note7 more than XZ, it's like No... morewhy your pictures for sony blured? you downscale it? orjust get a screenshot from your device to save it?! in gsmarena for mobile devices for seethe real quality you may save image to your local storage with direct download not just with get screenshot. i did that for you!! look at it. samsung has less noise but less detail and pixelated image in zoom sony has more noise(reduced but not look like note7) with much detail . both are good for me but this time for first time sony did better than them. before sony is good but not like apple or samsung( i mean in flagship range) but now with xperia xz i think they did better . this is my compare pic from original local saved pictures.

heynekko, 10 Sep 2016These samples show too much noise reduction even in bright ... moreIf you can't cheat Physics, then there's no way we can have the camera quality of the 808 and the great stuff from Sony. 808 has 1 inch sensor size so it'll take up so much space inside, leaving no room for other hardwares. Though we can still make a decent one, but that's not going to be a phone anymore. It will be a tablet already, and you'll expect a 20mm thickness as well. And yes, DxOMark and reality already proved that Lumias are now rivaled and easily outclassed mostly by Xperia phones, especially this XZ. Sorry dude, but it's time to admit that the XZ is now the smartphone camera king of this generation

I said that if you don't believe DxOMark, then you also wouldn't believe that it has one of the best smartphone cameras in thw world. S7 was on the lead along with the X Performance and HTC 10. And that only proves one thing: Sony has the best camera smartphone as well. Besides, X Performance leads the game in terms of colors being the X Performance achieving a score of 91 while the S7 being able to achieve 82 and the HTC 10 having 85 or so. Only thing that pulls down the X Performance is the amount of noise but they still gave it a high score because details are its best. At 100% crop, X Performance will retain the details despite the noise but others will not show noise but pixellate, losing the overall detail of the image
