Canada, India, and Japan are also advising against using Galaxy Note7 in-flight

10 September, 2016
The US FAA has already asked passengers not to turn on or charge the device on board a plane.

It doesn't matter how nice Note 7 is and how fast Samsung replaced the defective phone. As long as major airlines are banning the phone, a lot interested buyers who haven't purchased it will never buy Note 7. I travel quite often and last thing I need is worrying about taking my phone on the plane.

Just another justification for having removable battery in samsung flagships....
If Note 7 comes with removable batteries...
1.customer just need to walk in a shop, swap the batteries.
2.passengers can use note7 in-flight-- just take out battery and use a power pack

This year has been a disaster for Samsung as the Note 7 exploding stuff has been viral all over. It is better to scrap the Note 7 production and recycle the existing stocks and start fresh with the Note 8.

In general I trust the EU more for a balanced take on any situation. But in this case I haven't seen the EU advise anything yet. The least they could do is say something - that it is nothing to worry about if thats the case.

It is a normal result when you are trying to launch a device only and only to be before iphone 7. Now most of countries will get it after iphone 7 and the question is what will be the loss for Samsung and also one more question....if people who revert back defected products will buy again note 7. Samsung are down!

This really ticks me off because I have a 16h flight from Los Angeles to Manila in November. Another short trip to Vegas too. I want to use the Gear VR to watch my own movies. It only affected a few devices and all the Note7 users have to live with the consequences?

Going to settle with that PS4 slim and a few hundred dollars of PSN cards since I prefer digital games. Hate clutter. At least consoles don't get updated every six months to a year like smartphones do. Their planned obsolescence does last much longer. PS4 slim might be a cash grab with the Pro coming out in November, but so are smartphones! Dual edge displays won't look so special anymore once other brands use them and becomes standard for the S8 dropping the "edge" moniker.

Samsung literally "blew it" with me on the Note7. I really, really lusted for it. Maybe I will change my mind and still get it. But then Note8 probably corrects whatever fiasco the Note7 did this year. And maybe, just maybe, removable battery returns to the Note line next year. The J series have them, why can't the Notes again? Note is a PRODUCTIVITY device. Not a pretty, planned obsolescence fashion accessory like iPhones. But alas, Samsung followed Apple's lead and went fashion over function.

Skip the sevens. Wait for eight. The better gamechanger is in 2017. Project Valley is when you can now protect the screen by closing it like a book. None of this useless, gimmicky, dual edged displays that get exposed openly and prone to shatter. All those worthless edge features can still be done on a flat screen. Dual edge is a cosmetic gimmick.
