This smacks of just PR
If you order anything and have the inconvenience of only knowing if it is a morning or afternoon delivery so you are committed to waiting in ALL DAY.
It simply does not make any sense except PR to go from CERTAINTY to uncertainty why go from a system designed to alleviate queues to a free for all
You receive a notification and collect your phone albeit waiting fir that confirmation it saves unnecessary visits
The Apple phenomena of queuing days ahead for a mid range phone by that I mean the specifications are not premium and available year(s) before on other phones
Perhaps the worst marketing decision by Apple is these earpods which sit precariously in the ear
Even a head movement can dislodge wired earphone even Apple wired earphone
I think Apple have got it wrong if they think the earpod will just sit magically in your ear

Why did they have to produce less iPhones than normally at the launch? If these were too much, they just throttled the production.

If you pre-order, simply take in your paperwork and photo ID (passport or driver's licence) after the store rings you to let you know it has arrived and you can pick it up straight away. Plus models and the jet black models may take a little longer due to demand.

Is this the same for networks? I was told by Three I could go in store to pre-order and then pick it up with a receipt on the launch date. Does this still stand because it's not an apple store?
