I had Nexus 4. I gave it away to my friend. My uncle still uses galaxy Nexus. All working butter smooth.

So I am fully experienced about pure android.
I will share my experience and observations.
Your average ram consumption at during usage indicates how much of bloatware is added.Nexus 4, Moto G turbo, redmi all uses only 50-60% of ram on an average coz it has minimum overlay. But if you check Samsung, micromax,VIVO and all you will always be short of ram simply coz of heavy bloatware.

Hence, Nexus 4 with pure android runs smoothly even on 2 GB ram, but any latest phone of Samsung, OPPO etc with whoopibg raM will still lag in some time of use.

SONY, Motorola and Xiaomi just change the appearance but most of ui remains intact.I have seen Moto E working smooth in general use and Samsung lagging even in normal tasks.

But thank you for suggestions. Even I suggest Nexus to many. Let's see how pixel turns out to be.

      I surely hope 256gb variant won't be the only one sold. Or, at least, that it will have a reasonable price regardless of memory.

            Phone specifications have reached insane heights these days. This one for instance along with the OnePlus 3 have more RAM than most laptops out there (mine included).

                Get your facts right bro. Miui is nowhere near pure Android.
                Use Nexus or moto G series for pure or near pure experience of Android. But miui??

                      so it seems they are saving the QHD and the edged screen for Mi Note 2 (thankfully).

                        my bro in law works for android software and apps. Moto, SONY and Xiaomi are ones who alter android to least ( such that it is nearly a vanilla version experience)

                                I use Moto G turbo with just 2gb ram. It runs butter smooth. I am left with 1 GB of ram unused on an average.it runs nearly stock android.

                                I surf,chat,email,call,SMS,listen to radio. Yet no lag or slowing down.

                                Why do I need 6gb ram?????

                                OPPO, VIVO and all need big rams coz they know the bloats they've added onto android will slow down the system at lower ram.

                                For games I use gaming consoles.

                                  cannot be compared. One + is owned by OPPO. It is more hyped brand.

                                  More ram doesn't mean good. One+3 has 6gb ram yet it has problems.it uses heavily bloated android.

                                  Xiaomi works for lower ram coz it's OS is nearly pure android and it has good r management.

                                    With competitive price, i meant competition with ONEPLUS3 / VIVO etc
                                    @28K, you get 6gb - 64gb where as u get only 3 gb @23k.

                                    So if MI5S can be placed under 30k - 6gb with 256GB. It will be killer.
