The end user always has the most complete opinion of a product and its maker (manufacturer - programmer) have the best knowledge of it.

IOS- 9/10. Most stable, ton of apps and continue to add features with every updates. And let's not talk about jailbreaking otherwise it would be the most powerful OS by far.
Android-8/10. Most packed features and ample of customization. But lag come into play.
Symbian-7/10. Somewhat stable, consider great in the past but it is quickly getting outdated.

      From my experience:
Symbian: great for type of users. Pretty much stable. vote 10/10.
Android: great but not completely stable. vote 9/10.
iOS: don't make me laugh. if playing game is not your choice, go for other OS. vote: 5/10
      Other: never use.

Anonymous, 02 Nov 2010That is SO not true. Symbian is hated for its constant free... moreFor me symbian is the most stable OS and then comes iOS and Android.

But for a developer , apple gives the best environment and then comes android and symbian.

saying symbian is slow or lagging is just ignorance.
and i dont sell phones, i work in software side of the mobile phones ;)

Symbian is hated for its constant freezing and crashing, annoying pop ups and inconsistency. iOS and Adroid along with Blackberry are probably the most stable and reliable, I sell phones for a living.

ALonZo, 02 Nov 2010Well done Android. It was only time before this OS started ... moreHow can anybody believe that Symbian has more lags and glitches than Android or ios?

I have had many smartphones (Xperia X1, Lg KS 20, Xperia X10 mini, SE G900, several Nokia S60 and my latest is Vivaz Pro). My Vivaz Pro has no problems at all. It never hangs, never reboots, i can always kill any app that may not work properly, i have never had a dropped call and so on.

If Symbian feels mediocre to some ppl is because it doesnt have the looks of other os.

The real problem is that less manufacturers use it so in the future it will have less apps and games. Its easier to programm on Android.

Tomorrow morning i may go buy an Android device, or a WM7, but still i know that i will have more problems with them.
I' d buy it just for a change, for no other reason

Anonymous, 02 Nov 2010You obviously have not used Nokia's Nseries phones lately.I have friend who uses the Nokia N900. He decided to not go for Apple or Android as he didn't want to be part of the crowd. 5 months later he is saying he hates the phone! It loses signal, reboots itself, has lags. Ands using Maemo, Nokia's other OS.

But I guess it's down to choice. If people like Symbian then fair enough. I dislike the OS due to my experiences with it, therefore I'll never go back to it.

[deleted post]It's a minor situation. The clock time not changing is hardly the end of world, is it? But that's the media for you, any minor glitch with the iPhone is a major tragedy! And just to let you know my 3GS uses the same iOS as the iPhone 4 and my time changed automatically :)

Well done Android. It was only time before this OS started to be in the top catergory. Now I use the iPhone 3GS and feel Apple is doing a superb job. But I also respect Android for having an OS which is different to others, so therefore offers the consumer a choice. Some might say Android is the place to go if you can't get an iPhone. I beg to differ. Android is excellent in it's own way and again it's all about choice.

I'm not surprised that Symbian is struggling. As some have already said, Symbian has always frustrated the consumer with bugs and lags, which Nokia spend ages fixing. I personally have no time for Symbian and I'm from the UK, where Apple and Android phones are selling like hot cakes. Blackberrys still do very strong as well, but with Nokia its the budget and mid range phones that do brilliant. Only hardcore Nokia fans who have never used any other brands than Nokia who will say Apple n Android suck. They have no idea how good other phone brands are, and are probably used to the bugs and lags that Symbian offer because they are so devoted to Nokia. Truth if the matter is Nokia need to decide if they want to strengthen their smartphone area or stick to mediocre devices using a mediocre OS.

Anonymous, 01 Nov 2010but who was able to "drive" the new OS nowadays? ... more"The rest? Symbian? (don't tell me about the market share, as I know lots of Symbian users, especially those of S40, don't know a thing about what is a SMARTphone, they only use the phone for make/receive calls / SMS like feature phones) Bada and whatever from HTC?"

Look, pal. S40 IS NOT SYMBIAN. There!

So, no use telling that Symbian was a feature phone OS when it actually is a lot more functional, energy efficient, does multitask etc. better than any other OS.

So next time, please check your facts. S40 is Nokia's feature phone OS. But it is not Symbian.

What's with the Apps thinghy. I find it ridiculous to keep having apps. If I want my phone to do something I need an app. Omg, how many apps do you really need. I have a friend who have more than 100 apps but when I ask him do you use it all. He said no he only use maybe 15 at most. I'd rather buy apps for my Mac.

As today android gives many more application to use the customer than the windows, I dont think windows 7 gives, so android may rule more than MS

As far as i know, Symbian still has the biggest market share worlwide.

Its the lightest of all mobile os and most importantly everything works as they should, unlike iphone and android.

I ve been using Android and WM phones for a while and recently i got a Vivaz pro. It runs smoother, faster, doesnt crash, the video and photo quality is awesome and there is no symbian game i cant play. Also has effective 16 mil colors and alarm clock works even is the phone is turned off.

When i get a phone, i want it to operate flawlessly as phone above all. There is no other os to guarantee that besides Symbian, cause it was made phones from the start.

Other os offer better eyecandy. Nokia needs to work on that, but thats all.
