HTC is selling the One A9 for just $299 until September 18

13 September, 2016
At the beginning of this month, HTC announced the One A9s, which despite its name isn't a hardware upgrade compared to its predecessor from last year, the One A9. So if the HTC 10 isn't for you, perhaps that One A9 will suit your needs just fine, but you haven't picked one up so far because of its price.

                          Maybe they're preparing a new A9...?

$299 should have been the launch price for the phone. At $199 it would be a sale.

Looks very much like the Moto G4, but without the SD card slot a smaller battery and AMOLED display. And it costs almost $100 more even with this deal. Unlike the G4, this will not see an update ever.
So I'm having a hard time seeing where's the deal.

"HTC is now selling the One A9 through its official online store in the US for just $299 unlocked. That's $200 less than the phone's initial price."

Wasn't the initial price $399? Then a week or so after launch HTC jacked it up to $499?
