"T-Mobile is also offering a free iPhone deal for anyone who trades in a working iPhone 6 or above. Up to $650 will be paid to you while you finance the phone in the form of monthly statement credits," that doesn't sound like free to me.

Im only noticing Apples smart marketing strategies that give them such big sales numbers...
Its a consumer world, and a company is as successful as their marketing division is.
"iphone6 for iphone7" deal is not tmobiles doing, its apples decision.
Apple buys out those returned iphone6'es from t mobile I believe, else tmobile wouldnt have a decent profit at all from it.
And apple is not on a loss with it either, because they earn most from their ecosystem, not phones.
All win, just the consumers pay most in the end.
        Just an observation ;-)

Tann Hauser, 14 Sep 2016So does apple actually measure in also iphone6 deactivation... moreYou complain too much. All of apple's ads do not mention how many phones they ship. Quarterly, they do have to report accurate numbers for their share holders in regards to how many phones are activated onto a new customer, this vs "market share" which apple doesn't have data too. Android fanboys need to shup the hell up.

Tann Hauser, 14 Sep 2016So does apple actually measure in also iphone6 deactivation... moreI'm not even sure what your complaining about right now. As far as things go no manufacturer will announce deactivations since there is nothing to track that since it's simply someone that just stops using the phone. Not to mention Apple hasn't announced a single thing ,this is actually t mobile telling country "we've never sold so many iPhones before. What a whinny baby.

Tann Hauser, 14 Sep 2016So does apple actually measure in also iphone6 deactivation... moreThis is sold phones not activated. The iPhone 6s's are already sold and will continue to be sold and there are probably people buying them because they are cheaper and are not included in this news.

                    Guess not.
They just announce millions of ihone 7 activations
Its all a marketing mind trick....
Just as Samsungs "cant meet the high demand" bull.

Apple actually doesnt earn as much money on iphone sales itself as much as from customer payment within ts closed ecosystem.

But then again, its just makeup, turning iphone6 users into iphone7 users, not actually increasing userbase, so they can brag iphone7 orders are enormeus.
Typical stuff, Samsumg uses that consumer mindgames also.

It's really entertaining to read some of these posts. Especially the ones where ppl say Apple had better do different design, marketing, or component strategies or risk losing its stranglehold on the mobile market. Face it, Apple is not going anywhere and they have the market on lock down. The iPhone WILL be a hit, but next year when iPhone 8 is released, it will shatter all previous records set by any manufacturer. Guaranteed
