Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 won't have Snapdragon variant, analyst says

14 September, 2016
The company had announced a Snapdragon 650 variant of its Redmi Note 3 smartphone just a few months after the original, Helio X10 model was launched.

Till the dispute is there they cannot use MediaTek in India, unless they use SD they won't be able to launch Note 4 here.. Note 3 is already doing awesome and SD is a big reason for the same.

sigh... if no SD chip, then most people won't buy it. There're plenty of other brands.

          Hope Xiaomi realise that.

kurotsuki, 14 Sep 2016Xiaomi should put a distinctive trait on their product line... moreYeah that sounds like a good idea, the cheap Redmi's should get the inferior SoC and the flagships get the SD's.

username8, 14 Sep 2016Actually SD650 has hexa core with just dual A72 micro-arch.... moreIf you mean just in terms of battery life then SD 650 is the more efficient one, since its only got 2 A72 core it's gonna use less power. And SD 652 has 4 core, so it will have better multi threaded performance and maybe slightly less single threaded performance with reduced battery. That's all, there's no more difference between them.

Ehh... CPU wise Mediatek are fine-ish. for midrange. but GPU wise they are horrible. I recommend sticking to snapdragon AND Mediatek.

I think if they can save costs, then its good to have only one version. Obviously, one Redmi Note 3 is enough to prove that Redmi Note 4 won't be a slouch either, by any means!
So, why do we the consumers care? Today, mostly all apps run ok even on these chipsets.

From the consumer's point of view, One of the key reasons why Snapdragon do good in chipsets is because they have a clear numbering system, only rarely does it confuse anyone, like Snapdragon 652 may be slightly better than Snapdragon 800. But that is rare.
Even Intel is the same, i7 for performance, i5 for midrange performance and i3 for just a modernized but mediocre performance. And remember the Pentium Age? Pentium IV was better than III and so on... It was simple!

Helio may be the same too, but I don't know for sure.
