I mean the performace seems to be good but the windows os looks good on laptops and xbox for a phone for me looks ugly just my opinion now it is just for esthetics now if we talk about app support you hardly get apps I gess if look apps on java enabled handsets you get more than windows mobile .... but there were two things that killed my interest in this platform 1 is takes a long time before you get main screen if during set up don't enter an outlook account and even wooorst if you update your phone os and then you reset it you don't even get a miserable calculator app.

But, one cannot compare Microsoft and Amazon in this case. Amazon trying to make it's own phone? What's next, eBay-phone and Costco-phone?

As a customer of Verizon Wireless, the x3, along with the four latest Lumia phones, are non factors. All five devices are GSM only units. None have been certified for CDMA carriers. Hoping that the Surface Phone is released with a CDMA variant, but, chances are high that it won't.

SpiritWolf, 15 Sep 2016Actually, Gmail works perfectly through Outlook and there a... moreWhy compromise with 3rd party apps when you can get the real Google Apps AND Microsoft own apps on Android? In the end, going with Windows Phone means compromises, compromises that regular consumers don't want to be bothered with.
Microsoft had a chance when low cost Android phones were crap. Now, even the budget Android phones are decent, and the likes of Xiaomi keeps pushing the value of budget phones.
The Windows Phone side can no longer offer any better value proposition. And yes, games are important as well. Games is also the reason many people sticking with Windows PC instead of going with Macs. So don't underplay the importance of entertainment. People want to play the games that their friends are playing.

AnonD-428442, 14 Sep 2016Poor marketing and no apps, especially since Google refuses... moreActually, Gmail works perfectly through Outlook and there are several Youtube apps, some of them better than official Google app. Tube Pro, for example. Real reason why Win 10 Mobile is unpopular, is that people are so damn easily affected. I am pretty sure that about 90% of people who are trying to belittle Win 10 Mobile, have never used it. Same goes to 'there is no apps' whiners. There are. Maybe you will miss some local app, like your bank or something, but that's all. (And no, i don't consider games as apps.)

It supposed to marry the best of iOS (updates) and Android (more customization and variety of devices). It ended bringing the worst of both, walled garden, and no updates. Even worse, it much less robust app ecosystem and no Google apps.
My first Windows Phone device was the Nokia 710. It didn't even get the 7.8 update, let alone WP8.
My next Windows Phone was the HTC 8X. It is not getting Windows Phone 10.
How can that be better than an Android phone? At least with Android, you get the apps that your friends are using.

In the end, people buys what works for them, and since most are using Google services, they expected some Google apps (fro Gmail to Youtube) on their smartphone. Windows Phone cannot even meet that needs. The rest is history.

There is a similar story, Amazon Fire phone. Same thing, the Amazon store doesn't have access to Google apps. And soon after launch, Amazon did a fire sale on the phone.
