Canon announces EOS M5 mirrorless camera

15 September 2016
Canon has announced the newest member of its non-so-popular EOS M series of mirrorless camera. The EOS M5 is the most serious model in the series so far, with a design that looks similar to the company’s DSLR line.

For now, Im happy with my newly bought Nikon D5300 with 18-140mm kit lens and a 50mm prime. So, no thanks for your way too pricey camera Canon!

Kd10, 15 Sep 2016Awesome camera for the most part, yet, capable of 4k, but n... moreWhich other models? - the only Canon with 4K video is the 5D Mk IV and, from what I've read, it's fairly poorly implemented (mainly because of the 1.75x crop factor and the massive file size).

It's not worth it, compared to its competitor, it's just a pure loser overall.
I 'm not a hater or anything, but that's the truth about the Canon M series, especially the lenses, it's just not as superior as their non M series lens in terms of selections, and guess what? Just like the iPhone 7, Canon didn't put a 3.5 mm headphone jack too in it! #AWESOME

Sony a6300 or Panasonic Lumix GX8 is a better choice with a greater selection of lens and better performance.

Canon are way too conservative with their camera features. They need to step it up.

Though it's bigger than the M3, it looks like a great camera! Canon colors + APS-C. Hopefully it's not bigger than the olympus mirrorless m43.
Too expensive for now but hopefully in 2 years (lol) I'll buy it used.

Awesome camera for the most part, yet, capable of 4k, but not offering it, out of fear of eating into the sales figures of other models.

1080p60fps?? Dual Pixel Autofocus?? 18-150mm??? 5 aixs stabilisation in the camera itself???

RIP 5D Mark 4 going-to-be owners! No really.
While I was happy with the 5D Mark 4, I was not too satisfied with the Movie resolutions and options. And now a APSC based M series device gets 1080p60 in MP4!

Canon, you still don't give Log profiles and extreme dynamic range stops in your DSLRs, so why do you still fear about your DSLR range overtaking your Cinema Camera range?
One day this policy will cost you heavy, because Sony and Panasonic are just waiting for a mistake! And with the 5D Mark 4's movie options, you might have done just that!

Are they nuts? No 4K in 2016 for $1000 camera.
