Last week, The Verge reported that twitter was going to roll out an update that would change what makes up the 140-character count. Like clockwork, Twitter has officially announced (via Twitter) that it has made these changes.

Trooper, 21 Sep 2016You use torrents to download pirated media, and then wonder... moreIf you have a little brain in your head and use it for thinking maybe, then you can calculate that no one care about people who work hard in game or movie industry, all they want is just huge profit and nothing else. Because of that the price on market is every year higher and quality lower (almost all big brands killing the people around the world just for profit). And here is another player responsible for highest price (so called smart people in marketing who live in imaginable world). And consumer must pay all that.

About stealing, the goverment and industry are stealing from us every day. Please look at food labels or even worse on food in plastic that all we know is poison. They steal your health and when you sick you must pay to get your health back (the one biggest here is Bayer).

And when someone steal from you (bike, computer ...) ask yourself why. In all countries in the world you are good for them only when you pay taxes, when you are without job no one care about you. Responsible for that are all who work in that section. I can't blame someone who try to survive. And that is the point of all - to survive and live your life at least normaly.

If you think different then you can try eat money :) !!!!

Sounds a bit rich to think that, when developers have to earn a living (just like most people who work), but have that money denied to them because of self-righteous people like you.

How would you like to have items you own stolen from you, or be denied a chance to earn a decent living for the hard work you have done ?. I really hope someone steals from you on a regular basis sometime in the not too distant future, just so you can experience what it is like to have taken away what you have rightly earned.

Totally agree with you. I use torrent a lot, my iPhone is Jailbroken. Why? Most of software out there is a big piece of crap. There is a small number of developers that make good software. That developers I support and pay for license. And another story is with games. Their price is unbelievable high. It's just a game and I will always pay only a reasonable price for that or use torrent. And I'm proud that I can choose a side (good price = developer - bad price = torrent). It' simple. And if someone like to play a good expensive game and have no incomes like in countries like UK, Germany, USA, they can freely use cracked games, software or books and magazines. This world has become too greedy on money. That really sucks.

Trooper, 20 Sep 2016And why do you think this business model is now generally s... moreBecause it earns more money for the developers. They don't have to spend the money to burn it onto CD, package it and ship it. It's also far easier for people all around the world to get them. I'm not against the idea, it's convinient, but i want a choice. A choice to get a physical copy (preferably on a memory chip, like an MicroSD/SD card, they're cheap enough) since if anything happens, i can play it. And after playing it i can sell it so get back a fraction of the money i spent (like how my friends does with Pokemon games for 3DS).

There're multitude of reasons why they do it, but the main ones are the marginally higher profit and the reach they have with Steam.

Trooper, 20 Sep 2016Since when has being poor or disadvantaged meant that anyon... moreYou're basically saying: "You're poor, you shouldn't read anything that you can't afford". If everyone thought the same, then they couldn't get educated. You basically dividing people into those that can afford those things and into people that can't. We do not choose where we are born.

And no, it's not a theft. Theft requires that the person that you stole from lose that possesion, but game developers don't lose anything since you basically COPY their game code. If it were a physical medium (like CD), and you took that, then it would be theft. In court of law, it would be looked as copying, and in most countries, you'd only get a fine, if they even decide to prosecute you.

He's trying to tell me something? Maybe spending such a big percentage of his monthly pay on something that i'll be done with within a day is stupid?

Yes, i know that there are milions of people less unfortunate than me, but so are there milions of people that are more fortunate than me.

And believe me, our finances are excelently managed. We have enough for food, basic bills, and a few euros a month for me to go get a coffee with my friends (it helps that i'm an introvert). It's not possible to save more money since a full priced game on steam equals 1/6 of my father's monthly pay.

As for copying/downloading such media (as above) seen in your eyes as not being theft or the process of stealing, when a person has not paid for a licence to use or view said media, then that is the definition of stealing/theft, which ever way you wish to swing it, to ease your conscience.

As for your father not buying you certain things that you wish to have, maybe he is trying to tell you something ?. Oh, and there are many millions of people much less fortunate than yourself, that have to steal food to survive, not greedily wanting luxuries they could possibly afford if they managed their finances better.

Plz no, is 2016 use steam if you buy games physical medium you are paying 150% of retail price, some thing that also never goes below retail.

Yes i pirate also, every single, single player game, i dont make 10usd+ an hour for doing shitty jobs, if i was to work as a student id be lucky to make 5-10usd a day for a part time, i have paid for some multiplayer games, csgo, battlefield hardline, codaw multi only, cod bo3 multi only,

Meanwhile i have pirated even those the single player part of it ,cse multi only version on sale are less than 10 usually.

As for torrenting, i'm kinda pro pirating. I live in a country where i can't get a lot of those stuff (Amazon doesn't even ship here...), and if i can get them, they're uber expensive (we're already living pretty poorly here).

I pirate games, but i usually get bored with them after a few hours, and i delete them. So, should i have bought them? No. I'd like to legally own some of them, and i'd be ready to buy them if i could get them in physical medium and had the money to spare. There are books i'd really like to get, but they aren't available here (in english).

While i'm against people who earn nice money (enough to have a lot left over after paying for all utilities, food, taxes...) and live in UK, US or other developed countries, what about people from poorer countries? Should we not enjoy good TV shows that aren't available in out countries? Should we not read good books because they aren't available, and even when they are, they're similarly priced as in more prosperous countries, so even buying that is a strech (and before you say, i'm a member of the biggest library in my country. Even there a lot of books aren't available. And yes, i pay for that membership so i could read when i get the time). Like how not everyone is equal in the world (children from Africa and children from UK), so are countries not equal in their economic situation, and by extension, so aren't their residents.

As you might notice in my earlier replies in other threads, i'm currently saving for a new phone, that's because it was somewhat needed. I did ask my father for money for some games, he refused. As for books, he said something along the lines of "Ok, i'll pay 1/30 of my monthly salary for a book that you'll finish in under a day, what then?". He will get me a phone, but i'll use that phone for atleast 2 years. If he got me 20-40 books for that money, i'd read them in under a month. What's a better investment?

Sorry for my long answer, i get somewhat emotional when i see people saying that pirating is bad. It IS bad, but some people have to do it. If there are any grammar mistakes that you want to use against me (people do that nowadays), please don't insult me and kindly point them out. They're mostly typos, but mistakes are mistakes.
