Too late for me. I simply had enough of the shortcomings of my old N97 and could not wait any longer. The Desire Z was just released here (Canada) last week and I decided to get it. Had the E7 came out I might have gotten it instead. I wanted to give Nokia a chance to atone for the N97, but HTC was just faster to market. Sorry, Nokia. This train has left.

Mark, 09 Nov 2010So... this will have gorgeous hardware, decent battery life... moreWith the new Symbian 3, you'll be able to do everything that android does with better battery life. I keep telling people android is overrated and they won't listen.

Mark, 09 Nov 2010So... this will have gorgeous hardware, decent battery life... moreBelieve it or not, the new symbian 3 and meego is going to destroy android. Not only can symbian 3 and meego can do everything that android can do, but also utilize extremely better battery life. Android sucks and is the most overrated OS to ever hit the cell phone market.

So... this will have gorgeous hardware, decent battery life, excellent call quality and with the UI improvements scheduled for early 2011 announced today at SEE 2010 a much improved browser, keyboard and UI.

In the meantime Android users will still be unable to wander further than 8 hours from a power socket and still have cheap, plastic hardware.

Sucks to be you, guys! :)

I had a play with N8 in-store yesterday. Obviously couldn't spend a whole day with it, but it's slimmer than I thought and S^3 feels good to use - certainly better than S60 5th! :--].

Comparing with 4" handsets to get a feel for the size of E7, I have to admit that 4" is really the limit for nHD. Also, I have to agree with opinions that the homescreen-switching delay should be addressed (which Nokia is doing) as it's just inconsistent with an otherwise very snappy and sharp UI.

It seems there are two main differences between S^3 and Android's UI. The first is the way widgets are handled: 'droid widgets can be different sizes and placed more flexibly on-screen, whereas s60/s^3 seems to place very strict guidelines on what and where a widget can be. The second is the main menu: 'droid is flat with "pages", s60/s^3 is layered with "branches".

It's a matter of personal preference which you use, but it seems to me neither is inherently more or less sophisticated.

Beautiful phone, stunning hardware. I still have my reservations regarding the UI and the "fun" factor when it comes to using Symbian. As a long time Symbian user, I switched to Android 4 months ago and I haven't looked back. There are apps now that I use on my X10 that I simply could not give up :( If this were Meego (providing good apps!), or an Android OS I'd snap it up.

Does anyone know if the cameria EDoF? I must admit I've been very impressed with this camera technology on fixed focus lens. (smaller camera module)

This will be my next phone, clearback, HDMI, aluminium casing, 4 inch screen, Dolby surround, Symbian OS 3, nice colors, hand written translation, business mobile... quite impressive phone, no other phone has all this. not to mention it reads Flash not like the i phone which does not give a real internet view...

                                        A scratch resistant screen eh?

Does that mean some videos will be released on youtube shortly after release showing people dropping the phone onto concret?

                                        Fixed focus sucks.
