Why do people buy Mercs and BMWs when lots of cheaper cars are available ? iPhones and Samsung flagships do have something more than cheaper phones. Software is much more refined, performance is top class. Camera results are amazing. Software integration is flawless. Samsung battery issue is very unfortunate. I have been Samsung phone user for past 10 years, and this is the first time they have such problem. Did Apple recall all the phones over Antenna problem ? I think Samsung has taken a very honest and bold step in recalling the phones keeping user safety in mind, first.

Samsung Note 2 phone emitted smoke after reportedly catching fire on a Singapore-Chennai flight of IndiGo on Friday morning when the plane was about to land.
The phone was kept in the overhead bin. "The crew noticed smoke from the bin and found the device was emitting smoke after possibly catching fire. They used fire extinguishers on it," said a spokesperson of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Samsung asked to give clarification before agency.

The relaunch will use fresh batch of Note7, meaning that there will be no refurbished old Note7 in India. No more battery issue after using ATL manufactured batteries.

why samsumg would do a recall an loose over 1 billion dollars just to send faulty batteries again to customers? that would not be a business idea of course they get new working batteries.

Buying iPhone this early is insane! I bought my iPhone 6 in March(when it was released) as prices were almost same as US. Buying now you have to shell out more

Yaa, I am also waiting for it since 23rd August after prebooking. Finally a date us coming from the GSM areana but not sure about he launch till now as Samsung flagship stores are still saying wait for some time for gge official dates and timings...

Great! I am quite interested in this device.
I do hope they work with DGCA (Aviation regulator in India) on the safety aspect, because I surely don't want to be hasseled by airlines while travelling.
Right now all flight safety announcements include a warning against using / charging the Note 7
Convincing the DGCA may not be easy, especially due to an old Note 2 battery catching fire a few days ago on an Indian plan. Hopefully, that incident was due to an aftermarket battery, or Samsung has had it!
