So many generations later, Google still cannot get a phone design correct. Seems like they has to maintain those edges and keep making lookalike handsets.

Till now Huawei didn't come closer to htc in terms of quality. Maybe we can expect in future. But I think, it will take more time for huawei to provide one of the best interface like htc(lot to improve)
You will come to know about quality after switching from htc flagship to huawei flagship.
At present, Huawei is just affordable phone than htc.

[deleted post]Industry isn't interested in modularity because modular phones will save your money. Obviously they want you to spend more, not less. That's why Google's project Ara has been effectively cancelled. Other "modular" designs (like Motorola's one) are simply a bunch of expensive accessories. Don't expect a breakthrough here.

Google has cancelled its project for some reason. Motorola tried to do something but with no university. We need more universal things, same like USB. When you buy an accessory or part you have to be able to use it with your next device. That will help the environment as well. Also it's time e-ink displays to be used in order to safe battery. A case with E-ink on the front going to be very good for basic things and also for reading. Any way someone's you to earn from my ideas.

It is 2016 but you people still do not possess enough intuition to let these recent renders pass as close-to-official. You could do better. How about trying to figure out the ratio between rumors or leaks that have been accurately close to official versus ones that lay down inaccuracy or fallacy of info at least starting from the beginning of the year?

Google, it took you more than 10 years to realize that you need to copy Apple's frost-covered bottom dock/icon drawer. At least give some credit to the one OS - Apple's iOS - that has inspired you the most and whom you've copied from more than anything else in the world!

Just guessing from past behaviour of Google.
When high end Moto Nexus 6 was released, they started with android one phones for lower end category.
If rumours are to be believed for pricing of pixel siblings, then surely they have some low-end stuff under development to access the market at lower segment.

Google Pixel should carry an IP rating of 67 at least other than 53. Every phone is upgrading there specs and Google is doing the opposite.
