16 November, 2010
LG promised a dual-core smartphone with Tegra 2 - and a new leak shows that such a phone is closer to completion than you might have thought. It runs Android, records 1080p video with an 8MP camera...

ryantbdm, 22 Nov 2010They really need to improve battery technology before they ... moreDual cores offer the possibility of improved battery life. If you had a less powerful chip for the second core, it could run most underlying tasks and then 'wake up' the more powerful processor when necessary. Right now everything that a phone does requires it's big processors be used, this would offset that.

Of course they also might just keep having a pissing contest with each other and we'll be screwed until they invent some sort of super fusion battery to power the supercomputer in your pocket.

They really need to improve battery technology before they add all kinds of tech savvy features. Dual core would be awesome but not if you can only run it for 2 hours.

nice specs. but it seems these mobile phone manufacturers are not just keen on making them faster, but bigger and wider, which is not so good an idea, imho. its like putting an ipad to your cheek if it exceeds, any more than 4". it also gets harder to walk around, keep em in your pocket.

You can see the lag in Tegra 2. Orion processor coming out with 5X the performance of the Hummingbird in Galaxy Tab. It’s not even close.

Great! Now 1ghz phones prices will go down dramatically! 1ghz cpu for a mobile is more than enough with me,, maybe i'd buy one of these 2ghz android tablets next year as well! But 1ghz.id difinetly more than enough for a 4'' device imo

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2010As Uncle Ben of Spider man once say "great power means... moreIf the software is written well dual core can save energy, by using each processor for different operations, sharing rather than one processor maxing out with the same amount of work. This is because processors can only do one operation at a time. I'm a bit blown by mobile companies getting such intense processors in the first place, they shouldn't ever need to use 1Ghz but should be focusing on how to develop software that uses fewer functions so the OS runs smoother with less lag for a greater user experience AND save battery life. A 1Ghz phone running at full capacity would be flat in half an hour and probably be hot to hold.

wow i have read all comment loads of you talk a load of rubbish. Why dont you wait and see what the device is capable of when it launches then you can make a judgement. Some of you dont even have a clue what a good phone irrespective of manufacturer. Mark my words some of you will eat humble pie whenit launches and take back what you said and the apple(brainwashed with the brand) people will always be the same like others cant do anything better than them not realising they control you.

iphone4u, 17 Nov 2010Yeah, hear hear. they're are all claimed i-phone killers, ... moreYou're entirely defeating the purpose of supporting him by implying that the iPhone is the superior device. Let's just not bash each other, nor brag the hell out of our phones since it's getting too childish.

I've been in console PS3/Wii/360) and console/PC wars so I know how some people act in offense/defense against a particular brand. Even I do it a lot of times, but at least I have been using factual evidence rather than just spewing uneducated comments from thin air. That to me is an indication of a healthy debate, not outright trolling.

Here we go again with our ''My OS is better, my phone manufacturer is better'' issue. Can't we think of anything new? Anything better to talk about? I think we should just respect each other's decision when it comes to buying our own phones. Let's be contented and stop criticising each other.

Bill, 16 Nov 2010Sorry, but I find it extremely hard to believe you have bee... moreWell nice to know your feelings about American's, however I am Australian for a start... I own an iPhone and not an Android device as it is not quite polished enough for what I need a phone for. Nokia was a fantastic brand and huge contributor to where phones are today, however have lacked any innovation over the last few years in the smartphone market being left behind by Apple, Google(and hardware manufacturers) and RIM.

Now go back to living in the past like other Nokia fanboys, as I was once, and use a phone that doesn't freeze every five minutes, lack response and gives you an overall feeling of enjoyment. Take your Nokia in for repair, it may different overseas but here we wait 4 weeks to get the SAME phone back with NEW problems. When Nokia start to deliver again I'll be the first to give them a go, I am not bias in anyway...

Goodluck with your phones, I hope Nokia serves you well.
