those mods is the most terrible idea ever...
Useless features that only made to suck more money from the buyer pocket..
All those features can be simply built in the phone itself in half the price for the customer and less space usage.. take an example of ZTE Axon 7, third the price with everything you can imagine in one package...

Where do expect me to carry around all those mods for the camera, sound etc? or do i need to buy a pouch or a bag only for those accessories???

    Stupid idea

well i find it amazing the effort they're putting in the mods, i personally don't like the whole swapping in the phone (maybe in another device) so i wouldn't go into the mods, but the concept is good and now they're getting some video to show it around (more) so putting some money in marketing is always good, wish them good luck :)

Those Moto Mods are nonsense. They are the same useless things as G5's mods.

Moto Mods are nothing more than proprietary accessories / attachments. Proprietary, because they work only with Moto Z phones. Accessories, because they don't mod the phone: they don't replace anything in the phone, they are just separate devices, attached to the phone.

"Moto Mods" are not mods, because they don't modify the phone. It other words, you can't replace the CPU, camera, RAM, screen, ... of the phone. You can't even replace the battery!!!

As for accessories / attachments. They have their own built-in battery, which means they have limited lifespan. The batteries degrade over time, so after a few years, they will die. This is true for Moto Z phones too, as they also have non-removable battery.

In the past, there already were partly modular / moddable phones: for phones that have removable battery AND removable back cover, you could replace the battery to a bigger, higher capacity one (for example ZeroLemon, MbuyNow, Mugen, ... extended batteries).

And the USB OTG offers standard, useful, more features for ANY phone that supports USB OTG than any Moto Z or LG G5 accessory do.

Also you can watch TV without internet connection by using DVB-T TV tuner.

"LG had some good ideas with the G5, but if we have to pick a winner in the category, Motorola definitely takes the cake. Of course, we are talking about Moto Mods - the streamlined, magnet-equipped snap-on modules that you can simply attach to a Moto Z , Moto Z Force or a Moto Z Play."
I really think you're buying too much into marketing hype. The problem with these snap-on modules is simple:
they all have the size of separate, independent devices, and operate ONLY when attached to the phone. They're simply too big to be accessories. They use Moto devices as a base for processing power, but give very little, considering their sheer size.

For example, I can get a wonderful Sony RX camera, and it will take much better shots than Moto Mod with camera. Another example: if I carry around a pico projector, I can attach it to anyone's phone. Not only a moto mod-capable phone. Yet another example: bluetooth speaker that can work with your phone, someone else's phone and pretty much any bluetooth-enabled device.

IMO: this is going to be a very small niche of accessorized products, not a mass market for mods. But I completely agree, the way it snaps on the phone is light years ahead of LG G5. At the same G5 did one thing right: phone's size didn't change drastically because of a mod. You don't have to carry two phablets to combine them into a more capable device, even if both are thin. Their combo is the problem - it gets HUGE easily. Take camera for example - its bigger than the phone, and when combined with the phone, it gets into the pocket camera area... at three times higher price. Its price is comparable to some of the best pocket-able shooters on the market, like Sony RX-100 series. And I'll take Sony over a mod. Always. Because I can swap batteries, put it on a tripod and... give it to someone else to take the picture, while using my phone at the same time!

But Making enough money for the mods will be twice as hard!

Moto Mods is a good idea, but executed poorly. Moto Mods right now are used to suck money from people. What I mean is that they charge too much for what they offer and there isn't much to choose from.

Truth be told, sometimes a master can fall off his game but when he's really out to perform no opposite can outshine him. Motorola hasn't been on the top list for awhile now but this right here is an epitome stunner,a mind blowing creativity. Welcome back moto,u re indeed one of the best.
