This device is awesome and you're lucky in the US to get it with double the memory and storage running Android TV.

The huge advantage with this box is full surround sound lossless optical audio pass through. It's getting rare these days.

In regards to privacy every smart TV and box requires you to sign up to use apps and tracks everything you're watching and what apps you're using, this is our world so you might as well remove the tin cap or live in a cave.

At the end it all comes to user experience. For example, i've read in a review that Beelink's wifi speeds are inadequate due to a microscopic wifi antenna installed, so it requires a strong wifi signal... in other aspects it's a great device.

Another issue: xiaomi comes with the voice remote. If it proves to work good, then it's a really welcome feature, definitely worth the 15$ price defference.

I'd say that it's definitely worth it at that price and we can also install kodi to maximize its potential. I wouldn't login to my personal email, facebook, and other social media apps though

This box has android tv, also is a certified netflix box which offers netflix HD on the tv interface. Both of which your box can't do. Your comparing apples and lemons, the lemon being your box.

                    I wouldnt buy this.

I would better buy Beelink gt1 with Amlogic S912 CPU, android 6.0, 2gb ram + 16 gb rom for 55$ at gearbest and for 60$ at Ebay. Beelink is probably one of the best chinese android tv box oems. I was really expecting xiaomi to come up with Amlogic S912 CPU which has better mali gpu and supports probably all games smoothly.

If you are into gaming and want to use Android TV for gaming, you should look at the Nvidia Shield. This box should be adequate for streaming and might be alright for gaming, but you might be happier with the Nvidia Shield.

Please update all your miTVs to replace the awful chinese ron

This app without the written permissions couldn't get most things done. Of course, there are apps with many unnecessary permissions. Please look at what Facebook messenger requires. If you don't know what are these permissions needed for, don't complain because that's stupid.

Somebody should take these devices and see what data it sends to China...
Their Apps on the Google Play Store require rights like "sending data without notifying the user", "reading data without notifying the user"... All kind of very dubious permissions.
Search for any of their apps and look at the permissions, here are a few points from "MiWiFi Router"(application to setup the router, like setting the router password):
                                - Download files without notification
                                - change your audio settings
                                - close other apps
                                - run at startup
                                - Read content on SD card
                                - Modify or delete SD card contents
                                - take pictures and videos
                                - read your contacts
... a lot more, you can look it up yourself.

                                I wouldn't buy their devices...
