Apple will automatically download macOS Sierra on supported computers

03 October 2016
If you're rocking a Mac that supports the macOS Sierra release which became available last month, and still haven't installed the latest iteration of the operating system, this is for you. Starting today, Apple will automatically push the macOS Sierra download to supported Macs which aren't up to date yet.

Anonymous, 04 Oct 2016So wait, article starts with a tone saying Apple will autom... more"this will only happen for those who have automatic downloads enabled in the Mac App Store preferences"
now i might be wrong since i don't own a Mac, but for the looks of it, it seems that the auto-download comes on by default, meaning that those who haven't turned it off will download it, if the auto-download features comes off by default, then it's a bit weird the way they say the news :)

After you get used to the new short cuts you realize: I don't need to tweak my computer, it runs perfectly. With an SSD and 8GB RAM the thing boots up in less than 10 seconds and hardly ever stutters or hangs.

My work computer - Lenovo - takes 5-10 minutes to wake up on 4GB RAM and Windows 7. No SSD but that is still ridiculous.

It's not exactly and Apple to Oranges comparison, but the experience matters more than the specs.

So wait, article starts with a tone saying Apple will automatically download macOS, and at the end says "Oh by the way, this only applies to those who ticked allow Auto-Update" in the first place. Seriously?

How about, from tomorrow onwards, doors for houses will be locked..... if you lock it. lol

                      Really bad news!
I hate updates. If you want to keep your device with really good performance, never say "yes" to a software update :(

some people getting mad for force update because they not turning off auto update ....

And when Microsoft did it with Windows 10, almost everyone including GSMArena spat feathers like headless chicken.

Well it's ok if Apple forces itself on its customers- they are used to accepting orders from Apple anyway.

downloading from apple/microsoft servers is a bum..especially on metered connections..i have had win10 download halfway twice and then restart after a network error/ i have had itunes reach 90% on my iOS 10 update and then get server error... i had even considered getting a windows 10 torrent, just so that i dont have to babysit the computer till it downloads the OS, even though i was perfectly eligible for the free upgrade.
and on the ipad..i just flashed it with an IPSW..
