Imperator Neubaticus, 11 Oct 2016It's evident that the note 7 has had an unfairly bad reputa... moreDo you understand that even if what you say is 100% true, due to a design flaw, when it explodes in your bloody face your statement becomes irrelevant? You surely deserve the award for most clueless Samsung fanboy.

Im still thinking the s7 is decent, so when s8 is being pushed forward the s7 price is dropping i.e. bargain to be had.: D

Imperator Neubaticus, 11 Oct 2016It's evident that the note 7 has had an unfairly bad reputa... moreNokia communicators say 'hello' (9300i and 9500 as examples),.. then, if we could stick with Symbian, we had some awesome consumer orientated models' with 32Gb onboard storage and FM transmitters. (!yes, transmitters- you could tune your car or workplace radio to your phones' "station").

Personally liked my Touch Pro2 (an HTC Winphone prior to the winphone switchover (the only reason anybody persevered with Winphone back in the day was for software backwards compatibility; which ended with Winphone 6).
My XDA developers days of cooking roms; yay! Generally flashed a new Rom every week or so. Glad to see some of that crew create Cyanogenmod (a professional easy to do ROM mod).

Best and most productive one box unit that is svelte and top tier across a range of metrics; yes.. the Note 7 hits it out of the park.
The low SAR and S-pen are my reasons for sticking with Samsung (a company that has ripped me many times as a consumer), when phones 'just as capable' exist.

            Every user has differing needs.
For me; the multimedia on the Note 7 is phenominal. Best OLED screen yet (and I have never had screen etch, bar one refurbished motorola unit, across twenty odd OLED devices...) The audio output into hard to drive headphones is exceptional (best one box audio product in years). The camera is a decent 'everyday shooter' that has exceptionally fast focus, even in tricky lighting.. and can capture just about any shot (maybe not fast moving children in near zero light).
The upgradable storage means I can have >300Gbs of FLACs etc onboard for entertainment.
The modem is fast, the OS is zippy. (Exynos variant here)

Perfect phone? No. I like 'slide out' or 'fold open' keyboard designs.
If iPhones had lower SAR, I'd consider them. Same for Blackberry PRIV.
In today's market, I am having a VERY HARD TIME finding anything that comes close to the Note 7.

Writing straight onto the screen by pulling the pen out is a nice touch and a practical tool.
Whereas my Note Edge is a several step process to 'jot a note', the Note 7 makes this phone as quick (and in many ways better) than using a physical notepad (and pen).

When I do tech support callouts, the amount of times I need a 'notepad'; Note lineup is the only contender in this category... so I wholeheartedly agree: best phone (for me).

I think the battery explosions are from 'flexed' phones that have ruptured the battery cell.
Gorilla glass 5 is freaking flexible. So is the svelte aluminium frame. So easy putting a 5.7inch phone with around 80% screen to body ratio in a back pocket, sit on it,.. stand up going "oops". Inspect phone, visually perfect. "No harm, no foul" .... -=boom=- (damn)=>shouldn't have SAT on it.

It's evident that the note 7 has had an unfairly bad reputation. Plenty of people complaining for the smallest things just because they can be bloated up by the exploding issue. To me it doesn't matter if it won't achieve the prestige it deserves. All i know is my note 7, while not yet a replacement unit, is the best phone i've ever owned. And other note users will agree that it's the most feature-rich, productive, efficient, and practical smartphone ever produced, period.

Active Galaxy 7 water resistance is a complete joke, Note 7 explodes, Galaxy S6 Edge+ heAts up and battery life is rubbish. Never buy another Samsung product again.

It wasn't a good phone anyway. A slight bump over previous gen, dual cam and that's it. If that's what it takes to create a new gen then better indeed to get a new Note every 2 years instead of every year.

BTW it's still a massive downgrade over Note 4. No removable batt, means no capacity to swap (instant recharge) or buy extended battery life, or better yet no capacity to replace exploding batteries :p.

Lack of IR is slightly troubling too. It was a godsend for presentations and along with the swappable battery and the pen it was the total package for professionals. It is that no more anyway...

If the incidents are limited to the US then perhaps the problem lies with Qualcomm as the US is furnished with Qualcomm chips while the rest of the world gets Exynos chips.
