After the shameful mess they did, how they dare to refuse a full refund???

Anonymous, 15 Oct 2016If they allow the refund.. then people will ask for refund ... moreWell aren't people entitled to refunds on everything?! They bought a device that was flawed and called back and eventually discontinued. why wouldn't they be allowed to return all accessories for it? Samsung are just a horrible company

although my note 2 suddenly stopped working(was just charging and it stopped), and I vowed not to buy Samsung anymore, I do like the note line a lot because of that pen, that being said, I truly hope people sue Samsung to the bone because of their relentless unprofessional behaviour, this was their "true" flagship...

Samsung shall refund the Gear VR. It is unfair to consumer keep that and buy another unwanted model from Samsung just for the sake of using this Gear VR.

Best step is to absorb the loss, and move to the next model, otherwise, their name will continue to be damaged.

The new VR unit has a somewhat looser tolerance because of the adapter. After inserting the phone into and closing it down, you should push on the top of the phone (left side of Gear VR) towards the usb port (Right side of Gear VR) and make the connection tight.

I still thinking Samsung may committed a error for drop all Note 7 to a dump. I think they will to be to repair, since Sammy find what are causing the issues .And have other problem : the environment. What is better: to try recovery these devices or throw in a dump?

I don't feel like readin the whole thread on Reddit.
But I don't understand why Samsung would deny him refund, if he can prove the purchase of the Note7. (if he can't prove the purchase of the Note7, I would understand if samsung does not want to refund him, as it is true that it's compatible with other products, so it can't be assumed just that because he purchased it specifically for a note7)

Generally I think there should be rules, stating that if a product is exchanged for refund or another device by the maker (reseller, usually approved by the maker), they would also have to refund buyers for any accessories that are in working condition that are model specific or use a standard that are not found on units availible on the general market/not compatible with the replacement product, even if they are bought from another reseller, and even if they are third party acessories.

(hopefully that would make makers to think about following general standards, to not have to refund all kind of accessories)

In the case of a complete recall, I would also like to se rules against resellers and the maker to offer any replacement, that is not a newer improved model on the product bought. At least uless it can be proved that the maker/reseller actually makes a loss with the offer, itself, compared to the original purchase, and the recall cost of the device should not be included in any such calculation.

In this case it seems to me that Samsung/resellers, don't make a loss with the offer of the S7 edge as a replacement. So they can actually use some of the margings, to make up for some of the loss of the sale of the Note7, and I dont think that is ok.
At least not, if you are not completely freed up from any contract and get a full refund first so that you have the option to walk out of the store with any device (or no device), but still decide you want to sign a new contract and buy the S7 edge, then they could have a special offer for users that were affected by the recall.

I had both phones the 6s and 7s and neither one works with the 2016 vr gear the adapter does not work. The USB ports are of a different size. However I do get to keep the freebies, so I don't feel too ripped off.

I think there is info missing here. When returning the first Note 7 what phone was being used until the replacement Note 7 became available? T-mobile allowed you to pick any phone in stock. If a Samsung Galaxy s7/7edge was chosen, then Samsung had a promotion for a free Gear VR.
Not saying that is what happened here, but would like to know if the Gear VR was purchased or promotion before making any other decisions.

In the UK you could clearly argue under the UK / European sales of goods act that it wasn't fit for purpose. It was designed for the Note 7 (although compatible with other models) and it wont work with it as the handset has been recalled, I work as a manager in an English retail company and I would accept it back regardless...

If they allow the refund.. then people will ask for refund on screen protectors / cases you buy for note7.

Most people are mad, because they only get refund for the note7 .. not all those stuff they buy for the defective phone.

The bad press alone will cost more than the VR.
The customer stated he/she won't buy another Sammy device - who can blame him/her?
And the customer is also right on the 30 days - Sammy is to blame for the delay, not the customer. The new 30 days should start counting down from the new recall.

Kabbi, 15 Oct 2016OMG. Clothes and washing machine? You compared that with th... moreHow about comparing it to buying laptop. It is bundle with a mouse at least. If the laptop get recall, no need to return the mouse. If you buy the mouse separately, you cant get a refund either after 30days return window. This is the whole situation here. Though, it is said samsung agree to gives refund for all the purchased accessories for note7. But here the catch, the accessories must be bought less than 30 days ago for it to be applicable for refund. If it is bundled then you dont need to return it as it is preorder freebies. Freebies are non refundable items.

This issue is where both of them are right. Customer should be able to get refund but unfortunately 30 days window has past. Samsung is also right. The gear vr really does work with other samsung devices s6 and above. The issue here is that the gear vr is not defective. It had been bought. The customer dont want to buy a samsung and want refund. Though, I think the recall dont require accessories to be returned too if it comes with the Note7. Gear vr is sold separately from what i know. The guy even said it was purchased after buying Note7. You cant get refund for that. He bought note7 then buy gear vr but want refund on both. News flash, only note7 is recalled not the gear vr. So, it his bad luck. Go sell it in amazon dude. Gear vr is cheap anyway. The old ones already dropped to $50.
