A more clever move by Microsoft should have been to buy this from Chevron or let them develop it further and put it on marketplace. This way development of Phone 7 will be much faster.

The thing about Microsoft is they know in order to win customer they have to listen, and they have unlike Sony Ericsson who should have went straight to 2.2 for it's X10 Experia. They didn't listen and people won't buy their stuff. I got my eye on WP7 in my future.

This decision is basically what "Listen to your customers" means.
          Smart move MS, smart move.

now this is what a serious vendor does one that has real experience with platforms (mobile or not its still a platform) opening up the platform is what should happen for android and iOS as well, very smart MS, congrats to all wp7 users, (i am on android atm, but this looks very promising)

No need to miss the tool tho. Sure the team might have pull it out of their website but the tool is already out in the wild now, and someone who is in possession of it may just re-release it...

Microsoft has to honor this; nothing's going to stop the ChevronWP7 team to relaunch their tool (or make a new one) if Microsoft doesn't open it themselves.
