The G4 and G4+ are receiving Nougat as we speak, so credit where credit is due, but it's still a bummer that they aren't committed to older budget phones, even though it costs >$300

PLAYER SLAYER, 19 Oct 2016Lenovo is pretty committed to rolling out updates though. A... moreHardly. The minute they got Moto, they abandoned the first gen Moto X. Although they were kind enough to patch it with April security update, they didn't even bother patching a 0.0.1 update on it, leaving it on 5.1.

Not saying Lenovo is not trying, but in the end, the management want to see revenues. Revenues come from selling new phones, not updating old ones. So for all Android OEMs, updating/patching phones will always take a backseat. It's an additional cost with no returns.

I hope GSMA will review this soon. With GSMA's Pixel review unit went missing, why not work on this in the mean time?
Moto should quickly send a review unit over.

You are aware that this Moto Z Play has amazing battery life? I think they got 23-24 hours of non-stop video play on this. It's one of the best mid-ranger around.

While the Pixel's look nice, Android's weakness is power and power management. The best Android I ever had was the S-E Xperia Z2, with 3200 mAH battery, that could last 1 day-plus. Reason being it was fairly well optimized, 5.2" screen and only 1080P screen. These high-powered CPUs and Quad-HD screens kill the battery, opening the door for these midrange devices with more moderate specs, that are more than capable of daily workload for 2 days.. The CAT S60 is a great example as it can last 2+ days.

I don't think I've ever seen a nice Motorola phone. All of them are hideous

Anonymous, 19 Oct 2016No updates, no thanks.Lenovo is pretty committed to rolling out updates though. At least for their Moto phones, and high-and older ones, too. They do a ton of optimizations, though, so updates won't come as fast as they used to, but you'll still be in the front of the line for them. If you were talking about security updates, then yes, this won't get them unless there's some major security issue, sadly

Actually, I just got an email from them this morning (I'm a Moto X owner). They're running a special, order now and get a free JBL SoundBoost Moto Mod speaker pack (use MOTOZSOUND code) or get the Incipio OffGRID power pack for free using the code MOTOZPOWER.
