HTC handled it very professionally; I'm satisfied.
Unlike Apple, here is what they've said: "Just don't hold it that way" and "All phones are like that" and "There is nothing wrong with it".

In fact, the HTC DIAMOND already suffered with ANTENNAGATE.
You can find some posts about this issue at xda dev.
I had a Diamond and always noticed it.

The Core function of mobile phones is reception. Without Solid reception, the product is non-functional to over half of all mobile phones users. High end, boutique phone manufactures can compromise on reception because there clientel are not the rural poor. Others, create brand loyalty by consintantly delivering above average reception in all of there products.
In the USA, the huge variety of networks make the phone manufactures contribution to reception much harder for the consumers to discern. In the pure GSM regions of the world it's abundantly obvious when the product doesn't pull signaL like before
I wish GSMArena would come up with a more analytic method of measuring reception. Ideally minimum signal power as function of orientation. But that might take some real costs getting access to the necesary facilities.
Finally, I applaud HTC at a reasonable answer. Much better than Apple's Multi-Act Drama.

don't see why you call it a fatal problem then. You're the first I ever heard talking about this, and I'm on a lot of DHD forums.

HTC Desire and HTC Desire HD are both unable to keep a stable 3G-connection, the reciever goes to sleep very often, listening to Spotify... is a real pain because of the many lost connections because the reciever, not the sending part but the recieving part, go the sleep. HTC refuse to provide any fix for this fatal problem, that is far bigger problem than the lost signalstrength on IPhone4

maybe signal loss is inevitable but why is it more pronounced in iphone4 and hd7. I would like HTC to concede that signal loss is much more pronounced in their HD7 than in other phones. Then i might agree with the many people who claim that HTC is one of the best mobile phone manufacturers.

This is w... moreNokia does the exact same thing, i also have a N97 Mini so don't even try making Nokia look better than other brands, it's the same for all in this case, except the iPhone 4, which has a garbage reception and shouldn't even have been allowed to get a EC stamp of approval for sale in Europe.

This is nothing new. I have this phone and it looses maybe 1 bar if i grip it tightly all around, it was the same with my previous phone, the HD2, it's nothing that i even think about. This is normal for all phones to loose one or two bars if totally cut of from a directs signal.
I don't think this is something worth making a article over, it's been around since the dawn of mobiles with internal antennas. There is a huge difference between just loosing 1 or 2 bars out of 5, and loosing the whole actual reception completely and dropping calls in the case of my cousin and sisters iPhone 4.
