AnonD-43988, 20 Oct 2016Thanks. But can't read Chinese.... is there any new informa... moreI can't read Chinese either, I use the live translation in google translate. The only useful thing I can see is that there's a lottery via their Mi Market app to reserve one, you can share something to get another entry into the lottery. It'll be several months before it's easy to purchase.

Note 8, 20 Oct 2016These products look really fancy for the price. But once yo... moreXiaomi still support the 5 year old Mi2 with updates. It's still running just as snappy as when it was released on the latest MIUI8(Someone signed up on here just to tell me that) I can vouch for the Mi3, it's just as snappy.
The official unofficial firmware is Xiaomi.eu. It's stripped of everything Chinese and the community provides many many languages as seen on the weekly firmware page. I've never used any other firmware but you now need TWRP and unlocking enabled on your Xiaomi ID, youtube is your friend. Official global is slow to release after a new phone comes out and just as bloated, but with google apps (eu only has Play Store and Keyboard).
Myself and 14 family and friends who purchased after me have have never had an issue with faulty hardware, only cracked screens and Aliexpress has that covered. But there will still be some that are unlucky.

But once you start seeing funny Chinese characters in your mobile that you could not understand or comprehend, when the OEM ditch the device without further updates, no support or services and worst resale value, you would prefer to go with Samsung or Microsoft or Google devices.....

Actually, I think the pricing looks realistic enough given the specs. MI5S Plus costs 2299 Yuan for the base model (4GB/64GB). Let's see what are the improvements that Mi Note 2 brings:
- QHD AMOLED vs 1080p LCD (probably worth 2000 yuan)
- Higher resolution cameras (probably worth 1000 yuan)
- Slightly larger battery, Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, iris scanner etc (worth another ~2000 yuan maybe)
So 2799 Yuan for Mi Note 2 (4GB/64GB) is indeed possible.

Chinese tech analysts on Chinese social media say the highest price Note 2 version is close to 4000 yuan. Xiaomi official chinese social media account even made a poll with possible prices of mi note 2, with the lowest price starting only at 5000+ yuan.

Anonymous, 20 Oct 2016Xiaomi sees the Mi Note 2 as a "premium" high-end product, ... moreMi Note always was their premium high end phone. 16gb was 2299 yuan, 64gb 2799 and the Pro was 3299. The Pro took so long for release because of the SD810 issues everyone had. Xiaomi had to design better heat dissipation which they have 5 patents for. It released late at a lower 2999.
