Google Pixel XL undergoes the teardown treatment, its repairability score is 6 out of 10

21 October 2016

As such, you might have been eagerly anticipating to see a teardown for at least one of the two handsets, and today the folks over at iFixit have delivered.

    Folks, work on your sarcasmeter.
I made a few claims which were ridiculous (but which I've heard from other people) and easily proven to be wrong. I also used hyperbolic language laden with emotional pleas.

The bottom bezel on that phone is bigger than the top one. The Pixels' are symmetrical and their earpiece is smaller. Next time don't be so ignorant.

This is just an HTC desire or a9 or whatever HTC phone it resembles.
Google is cheating us by buying OFF THE SHELF (unlike all the other Android flagship phones, which totally make all their own parts and this justify their iPhone pricing).
What matters is how things appear, how we feel about the company and the company's broken guarantees regarding little to no profit (even though the process of the nexus devices have fluctuated drastically from year to year, but NO MATTER!), top of the line devices offered every year.
                      So drinking the Gool-Aid.

The device is good so I wouldn't general expect repairs. I have never had to repair a HTC phone ever. we have 23 of them in the business altogether. The A9 being the latest batch. Very happy so he tear down isn't really of interest as I am sure Pixel like other premiums are fine and in any case is the manufacturers issue in the warranty period.

The internals of this phone are well designed. Considering the fact that HTC is the OEM, I assumed the internals would be like its One series. Trust me, tearing down a recent HTC flagship is not for the faint hearted ! Kudos to Google and HTC. Hopefully HTC takes a page out of this internal design.

So glad that the battery is made by HTC instead of Samsung with current smell in air. Don't know what exactly was Google's part in this phone, design and idea probably.
