Lens flare means a lens problem. Usually one of the lens elements is covered with a special nano layer to cut the flare effect. You can't fix that with software. You either live with it and avoid direct sunlight, or just buy another phone. The "software solution" is BS.

lol..these articles are so defensive...before it was with apple, not pixel...just admit it, the nexus was a good thing..google killed it to get more money..thats all

It's a hardware problem Google. So a software update won't really fix it.

Strange. £599 for a device Google brands as premium and perfect. I'm glad I won't be buying this device.

lots of talk just to say they screwed up. and this also means all those "highest quality photo camera" / "they've got everything right" articles are all questionable.

AnonD-571015, 26 Oct 2016The same way you can remove lens distortion in Lightroom. O... morei bet they're going to fix the lens for the next batch and not tell anybody.
then they'll try to make the software detect the flare and go to the next frame (it captures a flow of images and select them for you already in HDR+ mode) but wont actually "remove the flare" which is pure bullshit. Whats next, enhance like in csi? lol

I'm pretty sure that lens flare is a hardware fault. So it won't be fixed by a software update. Guess Google think their customers are weak in the head.

I find this quite funny, Google thinks just because they copied the Iphone style, they can treat their customer base like Apple does, as a bunch of brain-dead drones.

Software doesn't refact light to create that halo effect kids. It is a HARDWARE design flaw in the lens/iris area. Forcing HDR use to "filter it out" just removes data from the image, trying to hide it like masking a water mark, with a corresponding degradation in image quality.

Looks like we have another company putting profits over quality again. Hopefully LG, with the V20, can capitalize on the errors of Samsung/Google/Apple. Now if HTC could get their act together instead of going down the "Apple hole", maybe we could get some good quality, high performance phones that are actually "flagship class".
