The trouble is company's are making too many over powered smart phones, my m8 said we never had this with Old Nokia, (yes we did) They did make over powered smartphones, 6 of them, it all began with the monstrosity that was the Nokia N93, they took a huge leap by fitting a Texas Instruments OMAP2420 CPU in there that was accompanied by a separate GPU by Imagination Technologies GPU, a PowerVR MBX unit, this was mainly done to push their whole 'Multimedia Computer' narrative at the time, as the N93 became the 1st phone capable of 'DVD Quality' video, it shot VGA @30FPS, that was a 1st in the industry and it was thanks to the incredibly powerful CPU and GPU combo they put in. They went on to fit the same combo in the N93i, N95, N95 8GB, N82 and E90, all these phones became the most capable multimedia smartphones around for a good 2-3years thanks to the CPU/GPU combo they had, unfortunately Nokia never allowed Symbian S60 to take full advantage of what was the most powerful GPU found in a mobile device, Apple got the same GPU in the iPhone 1st Gen and put that GPU to good use for the UI, and well, the rest is history. After those 6 phones, Nokia never again used Texas Instruments and the PowerVR MBX GPU in their Symbians, they shifted to a cheaper, much higher clocked Freescale CPU that had a much weaker GPU, and used it up until the N97, where the CPU was so stretched to its limits the N97 was barely stable. Nokia did make 1 more over powered phone, the Nokia N900 based on their Linux OS, Maemo, once again a Texas Instruments OMAP CPU was used with PowerVR MBX GPU.?

AnonD-507785, 29 Oct 2016Okay...for starters, I'm not a hater, I'm just disappointed... moreAs much as that is true, what are you supposed to do if you are in their situation? What exactly did you dind unacceptable??? I couldnt point fingers to anyone in the company and just fire them. QA responsible for checking quality of the phone but who check these QA's works quality? As you said devices that had been tested must be approved by Samsung. Correct. Green light is simply given based on tests and paperworks that says "This device is tested"(example). We dont know how the exact process and stages gone through by Samsung doing this. Do they test all devices or just pick a few samples? We dont know. Yes, even the faulty phone have no root cause after all investigation. You said they drop the ball. Like you said their entire brand is affected just because of that one device. This association to the device brand name is absurd. It is your own mindset. If you smart enough to think and know it is not the entire brand then why are you joining the 'simply hating samsung' bandwagon? In that situation even I would give up on the flagship. I never try to paint them as "high end company". I just dont approve of how our society is taking this absurdly. Even those who dont buy the flagship react as if they are the victims. Is it so wrong to keep supporting them? Your action can be liken to 'kicking a dead dog'. If you dont like them just because of Note7, fine. Keep living that way. Btw, not a Sammy fan, just a supporter.

Julliard, 29 Oct 2016Dear hater, Samsung electronic department alone have over 3... moreOkay...for starters, I'm not a hater, I'm just disappointed how unprofessional Samsung's mobile division became, because I used to like their devices, before they changed their business model. Do you know a saying "as strong as its weakest link"? Unfortunately a whole Samsung company is taking backlash for the mobile division's failure with Note 7, because people are associating the brand with trouble at the moment. And yes, I still stand by the statement, that's it is their fault (mobile division and in effect the whole company). Why? Because QA testing in this case was always a 2 stage process. First manufacturer tests its product to make sure it'll work properly. Second, device being tested after assembly, to make sure all its components are working well together (so regardless where they are coming from, they still have to be approved by Samsung, as "safe to use"). After that, if the device has a "green light", it is released for retail. The fact, that some of those faulty Note 7 slipped through the QA is entirely on Samsung (whether they tested every single device, or just 1 out of 5 for example). Sure, it wasn't all of them, that caused users a problem, but the numbers could have been much higher if not the recalls. You can try to defend them all you want, but it doesn't change the fact, that they dropped the ball, and even now, all of those employees you're mentioning, couldn't find what was actually causing the issue. For such a "high end company", as you're trying to paint them, this really is unacceptable.
