"The UltraFine 5K Display is priced at $1300"
seems like LG employees travel to work in private jets, and these expenses are included as product development costs???

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2016It can work with Windows too if you have thunderbolt.Depends on the drivers.. need to consider the camera / speakers.
Last time built a Windows PC rig for the Apple thunderbolt display.. have to pull bootcamp drivers just for it. got everything working except the camera..

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2016I will wait for 8K this winter. and then buy it. 8k is best.I don't even want to imagine how expensive is it going to be. Some $5000. If i had money, i'd better buy OLED 4K at that price.

If only LG had made the 21.5" screen 21.6".
21.5" is too small for 4K.
21.6" screen at 4K (4096 x 2304) gives 217 pixels per inch, the same as a 27" screen at 5K (5120 x 2880).
Come on LG, give us the full 21.6"!!!

Why do these have to be so ugly?
Mac users generally like good design and are willing to pay for it.
This is not it.

I have LG 27UD68 4K. Pretty good display for its price. Good color reproduction, viewing angles, except for diagonal views, which is technological for IPS. I use it with just 5% brightness, so blacks are relatively deep. It's flat with relatively little bezels with good matte coating and with good light-reflecting filters. So picture is outstanding among other TFT. Only IGZO is better, but that cost some 4 times more.
Only bad sides are software. No way to switch quickly from game modes to custom mode and Windows app isn't DPI-aware, have no way to quickly switch modes as well (you have to open an app then point to little combobox with giant number of presets), hangs PC for a second when switching modes and prevents full screen gaming in lower resolution as taking focus when switching resolution. So better keep it closed.
So only downside is no way to quickly switch to custom mode. Joystick only switching game modes which are all locked to 100% brightness and locks most features.

AnonD-97496, 28 Oct 2016Amoled is never a good idea for laptops or desktop monitors... moreOversaturation on Samsung phones and other phones with Samsung AMOLED matrix is just a software feature. Sadly you can't turn it off. But it's not because it's OLED. It's just Samsung like those "picture enhancers".

burn in is the problem
