04 November 2016
Zotac has revealed a new backpack PC that should get rid of one of the biggest annoyances with using VR headsets right now: the dangling cables.

AnonD-39937, 04 Nov 2016You can carry a gaming laptop with gtx 1070 in a backpack i... moreAir ventilation is going to be a problem and last time I've checked closing your laptop places apps to sleep.

guys can we just take a moment and just see how small the pc form factor is..but yes this is just a milestone in VR gaming..not the end...
and this may be the first time when a desktop pc has an inbuilt battery to keep things running..i have been asking about this on different tech forums over many years..i mean..the ups is good..but never enough..why not add a small battery in the PSU in addition??
lastly its nice you guys put this post here gsma..but if you are planning to rip off anandtech all the time..we might as well as just go there..they write better articles anyways..

[deleted post]That is one approach, but I'm not too keen on that. Having line of sight you would have a huge bandwidth for the transfer, being sufficient easily. But if you don't have tho, then you drop significantly the speed, and purely placing your hand in front of the receptor would kill off that line of sight.

dph.abu.shofwan, 04 Nov 2016can't they just make the headset display linked via wireles... morePossible I believe it is, even with current technology. BUT: the bandwidth required for that is simply huge, so even for a short range, you would be dealing with a lot of potential interference for uncompressed data, or delays for compressed data requiring lower bandwidth.
Then there's the frequency factor: the higher the frequency, the more it gets absorbed by obstacles, including one's own head. It's possible indeed, but won't be that easy, specially without a specialized protocol. Using existing Wifi adapters would likely end up clogged.

can't they just make the headset display linked via wireless display instead?
            somebody, please make this happen...
surely they can overcome the "lag" if they only start building it - like any new tech, you improve as you go along anyway.

get nice leather backpack packed with a projector instead of VR.
