I am pairing my SONY Xperia Z5 Premium Dual with my Alpine INE-W960 head unit! No need for Android Auto. But it will be a nice addition, IMHO...

The idea was to use the car's screen, not my phone. I can use Waze or Google Maps since my grandma was young...

One must really have lived under a rock in the past years in order to accept Android in their car(s).
Android is ok-ish for kids' tablets and simple stuff, but anything else requires a more advanced, stable, and secure operating system - like Windows or iOS.

sony made this years ago!!! (driver friendly interface). Of course i am not sure about voice control, but rest things there was.

that was available on windowsphone for years now AKA driving mode it was available since WP8.1 !
