YouTube gets HDR support

Google has added HDR support for YouTube. Starting today, content creators will be able to upload HDR videos to their channels and those with compatible devices will be able to watch them.

          Sorry, but this article and description of HDR are all sorts of wrong. I'm not sure what YouTube is really promoting here, but what you're explaining is NOT HDR...

          "...making the whites brighter and the darks darker while simultaneously increasing the detail in both areas."

          That sounds more like contrast than HDR. Reproducing HDR in digital aims to widen the dynamic range as seen by humans. Which means that an image is much more balanced, without blown highlights or drowned out shadows, turning up the overall luminosity across an image and revealing its detail.

            AnonD-608000, 08 Nov 2016 they should up there audio quality insteadYeah. I hate how they changed the audio bitrate to just 125kbps when it used to be 192. I'm sure audio doesn't take much storage. The audio quality change was really noticeable for me. I even asked other people if they noticed that too. Youtube should really add 320kbps support.
