Dovice, 12 Nov 2016Why tell everyone? Surely it is better to keep this informa... moreNo, this is just the 'concept' that shows it is possible to hack this phone. It does not show how did they make the app which downloaded in background to access all permissions. If they even show the code in the app they used, then this would be risky. Don't worry. These phishing shits already exists in android, thats why you should be using ad blocking, and make sure that when you click to download a file, it asks if receive file or cancel, because it is anoyin in AOSP browser that files automarically downloads in background without permission...

AnonD-507427, 12 Nov 2016Hahaha poor android users :DCheck out National Vulnerability Database, the number of vulnerability in iOS was three times higher than Android's in 2015

Actually this kind of bounty program is good practice for detecting security hole. Apple diesn't have one and is now starting similar program

How did you get the Jolla C. I had the old Jolla but eventually the ear piece broke. So have kept it away. It has an awesome software, pity we cannot buy it in India.

Great, great OS and there's a separate folder allocated to Android runtime so Android apps can't access any other folder than that. That's called peace of mind.

Even in this event, safari was hacked.

AnonD-507427, 12 Nov 2016Hahaha poor android users :DThese usually can't be used in practice. It was specially made for the pixel, but it probably wouldn't work for any other device. That's how stagefright was at least. And if they could have it on multiple devices they probably would've done so.

What did you expect? It is by design a spy device.
Just disable google play services for 2 days and check your battery usage. You will be surprised to see how much of battery is used just to spy on you

Ted, 12 Nov 2016So their own designed, pricey flagship devices have a hole a... moreI completely agree!!! (But, in my case, Symbian would be the best, bar none)

All Symbian needed was more ram, bigger batteries, bigger screens, and access to (compatibility with) Android apps somehow.

This would have been the best case scenario. We live in a sad time.
Both worldwide operating systems are US based. (Windows mobile is nonexistent as of 11/12/2016 with less than .3% global market share)... So in five, ten or twenty years, we may find out how many cameras that have no shutters and secondary mics were recording everything in the background and sending info to that one place in Utah they built ...

Anonymous, 12 Nov 2016What about iOS??has been successfully hacked, too. for example, there was an article around here or somewhere else about compromised apps making it onto the app store via malicious updates to the initially harmless apps.
pretty sure nothing is ever 100% safe on the internet, things are just too complex

So their own designed, pricey flagship devices have a hole a mile wide ?
                                  Suprise suprise.
Bought to you by a firm that outs other firms for having holes in their software !!
When will folk realise that you cannot secure android, not in the past, not now,and not in the future ?
Android/Linux is a huge fail, mostly holes with bits of badly written, inefficent code stitched together to kind of work well enough to sell to the gullible public and to enable alphabet/Google to extract as much free data from users as possible..
How ever they try to lock up,lock down, secure android/Linux it's never going to be secure, far to big,far too badly written,if you need security,go elsewhere,Apple maybe a horrible company, and boring products but it's probably more secure..
me,I will continue to use winmo 6.5,with an "extra" when/if I need something to be secure, the number of folk who have the knowledge, experience or time to attack winmo 6.5 is growing smaller by the day..
There is nothing IMPORTANT that android can do that winmo6.5 cannot do.
