and yet another clone/slab of a phone that basically looks like a HTC A9 (and variants), iPhone 6/6S/7 plus but without the demanding price tag. The design element is becoming so tedious

very expensive with mediocre soc.
In this price range one plus 3 would be a better option.
one plus 3 cost is around 399USD ,where as dual cam set up is concern its seems to be a gimmick and nothing else.

Pointless device, what's the deal of having two cameras to produce depth of field plus HDR if the processing power of the chip will take 3 seconds to actually compose a picture. And that price... Any single other chinese manufacturer gives more for that kind of money, this will go down as the worst phone of the year.

Swear to god, phones these days are more boring than ever, no innovation, no taking chances. An extremely slow and boring evolution 'is all.
Hopefully Mi mix will change that by finding imitators.
