Firefox hits version 50

16 November 2016
The perennial Mozilla Firefox has hit version 50. Launched back in 2002, Firefox has faced a lot of tough competition over the years, first from Internet Explorer and then from Chrome, but it continues to be a popular browser with a faithful user base.

Anonym, 17 Nov 2016Uh... do these people that boast around Opera even realize ... moreOf course, but it comes with adblock, mouse gestures, free VPN, battery saver and a few more things. Uses less RAM too. Also, Opera and Google worked together on the engine so Chromium is Opera just as much as Opera is Chromium. Anyway, Firefox, Opera and Vivaldi are my favorite browsers.

The only reason I find Opera better than any other browser is because of it's Advanced Keyboard shortcuts & mouse gestures.

Can't handle too many TAB. No browser better than Opera, period!

the version numbers moved too fast. moved more than 3 in one year.
naturally, should not see a version of software jumped 1 in period of less than 3 years

keep inflating the the version numbers, this version has been made irrelevant
there are the sub version number for use. .xx.xx

                        1. Type this into the URL bar and hit enter:
                        about:config

                        2. Create a new preference: right click --> new --> boolean
                        paste this:
                        browser.tabs.remote.force-enable

                        3. Set browser.tabs.remote.force-enable to TRUE

                        4. Find and set this preference for example to 10 (this preference defines how many processes the Firefox can create)

                        dom.ipc.processCount

The only browser which still doesn't support "smooth" pinch zoom on Windows 10 or may be on every other platforms.

Its ram usage. If you leave it running for a few hours it jumps up to over 1.5 gb ram usage.
I have to periodically close it and reopen and restore tabs. But i still use it because im used to the interface

That all depends on what add-ons you're using. I have everything I need in Vivaldi/Chrome but I still prefer most extensions found in FireFox.

I was an avid FF user, but few weeks ago tried Opera and switched totally to this marvelous browser. I wasn't expecting, that there can be something better than FF but, believe me, is. However I still have FF as backup and see that 50th is much faster than earlier editions. Besides they could stop to pretend Chrome visually.

I prefer multiple restarts a day over inconvenient browsing with only some basic functionality (Even with extensions...there are just no extensions for many things you can do in Firefox with proper extensions).

The speed is what drew me back to it and it just looks better on Windows 10. I'm proud to say I am a long-time FF user since Firebird from early 03.

Best browser ever. Works too good on android but runs sluggish on Windows 10. It used to rub smooth on 7 and 8. Hope this update improve it.
Best thing about the firefox is it's addons. They rock.
