Anonymous, 17 Nov 2016Get rid of Note7, Samsung have so much time in their hand. ... moreWith so many phones coming out, I think except for the iPhone the second hand market is all b dead.
Ridiculous offers being made for a phone in immaculate condition, rather than give the phone away,it it it it a MP3 player

Security updates are just that Google patching their own error, a good anti-virus app should be no more than say 3 months behind

Despite being a 2013 phone it may have exactly the features the owner requires.

A camera spike, CPU spike is all that separate a mid range phone today from the junior flagship of 2013

Ok on 4.4.2 kitkat , galaxy s4 mini got november patch. Nice samsung , nice :)

Nice from Samsung but nobody cares. Thanks to developers dozens of custom ROMs are out there for all S4 Mini variants with all latest security updates (including Android 7.1 based ROMs on November security patch :))

i am using my s4 mini still...cause last year our currency lost its value twice.. 2013 s4 mini price is equal to ace 3 price now...i chose to save it...also my friends have a lot of issues with their phones but this phone dont have serious problems (except second network failing and stupid instagram lags)

Wow S4 mini gets an update but not Note 3. Thats just messed up, whats wrong with you sammy!

Really envy those s4 mini users out there. It proves Sam still cares for an older devices. Good job Sam!

My main phone is an S7 but I'm still holding on to the S4 mini as my secondary phone. Its combination of feather weight, small but usable size and decent camera/performance makes it the last of a dying (or dead) breed of phones; every decent phone now is a phablet and weighs a ton! I'll keep the S4 mini till it dies,so thanks for the security update Samsung!

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2016The 4 people who are holding on to this phone will be very happySamsung has a pretty good idea from Google Play and Samsung's own cloud services how many of these are still around, and the number must be substantial, or they wouldn't bother with the update.

The S4 and S5 Mini were very popular midrange phones and both remain quite usable even with the latest apps. I think it is very nice that Samsung does deliver security updates for older phones and even non-flagship ones. This should be standard for all Android phones. Unfortunately most users don't really understand the importance of security updates and don't demand them from manufacturers.

Why put a big headine about an update for an old midrange spec phone from 2013? That s4 mini has been in my drawer rotting for 2 years now.

Are phones without Android 6.0 able to get security updates?

AnonD-558092, 17 Nov 2016Wow, this sure is a surprise for such an old low-end device.Better than the Galaxy S5 Mini, at least in cpu. And it wasn't a low-end device, at least when was released, it was mid-range.
