21 November 2016
The Surface Studio PC was announced by Microsoft late last month, and the Redmond, Washington-based company started taking pre-orders for the computer on the unveiling day itself.

The touch bar is useless is as useless as the wireless headphones. They are both gimmicks.

now my opinion on the surface studio...looks like a gimmick..they could have made good monitors, but even then there is that absence of palm rejection...the original surface was a futuristic bulky machine that worked as a coffeee table also..that was something else..not accessible to public but worth drooling over in forums/ comments sections

It does not feature even a single USB C Port, heights of senselessness!

Like the Surface Pro convertible tablets, this is yet another creative's dream come true from Microsoft. However, as someone who owned a Surface Pro 4, and now an otherwise very versatile Dell Latitude laptop, the Achilles heel is Windows. Coming from a Mac, it is a total nightmare! 1. Adjusting settings requires navigating through various panels that are not consistent in their design. 2. It does not handle font scaling on high res displays properly (unlike the Retina tech used by Apple that you only appreciate when using a Mac with a Retina display or connected to a 4K monitor). 3. Masses of bugs and firmware issues, requiring patches and calls to MS support. (My fingerprint reader stopped working.)

Microsoft need to totally re-write Windows from scratch, as Apple did in the wise transition from Mac OS 9 to 10, basing it on UNIX after the acquisition of NeXT. I mean, all from scratch. A rock solid well design OS, cloud and touch centric from the get go, with a consistent UX, no matter at what level you are interacting with the machine.

This lack of attention to detail in software by Microsoft is why there are issues with even well conceived machines like this Surface Studio - for example, as reviews have pointed out already, there is no proper palm rejection, so if a designer is drawing on the screen with the stylus, their palm or fingers laying elsewhere will product unwanted artwork.
