Sam, 28 Dec 2010LTE is the 4th gen on mobile radio tecnologies right afther... moreLTE & Wimax are pre-4G tecnologies which is different from 3G (UMTS, HSPA). though, they're considered to be '4G' as of dec 2010. i think marketing reasons, 4G specification is different than those two.

i commented that because the first article have the word 'not real 4G' on it, then referring to LTE as the 'real 4G', i was like "what!?"

im glad the article was updated to prevent misinformation.

it won't support gsm. this is going to be a phone for verizon's new lte network, so it's going to be cdma. however, htc desire hd is probably a similar phone. except with no 4g (but still has hspa+) and no kickstand

Low frequency WCDMA/UMTS isn't available everywhere, and neither will 4G be. GSM will still be a fallback for reliable in-building signal at the lower frequencies in non 4G areas.

Not to mention the ability for them to roam globally.

Anonymous, 29 Dec 2010Has the American market gone completely off the rails?? ... moreThis will come back to haunt them. They just came out with HSPA and now this. It will make or break T-Mobile as much as I love them I would hate to see this blow up in front of them and crash and burn.

Has the American market gone completely off the rails??

How on earth can TMobile call HSPA+ "4G"? The rest of the world has continued to call HSPA+ "3G" for years.... Because that's exactly what it is. It's just an evolution of HSDPA... same backward/forward compatibility.

                          Ridiculous.

I understand calling LTE "4G", even though it's slow at the moment. It's a new technology... a 4th gen tech... LTE-Advanced will see the speed at an acceptable level to make people happy about calling it "4G", but my gosh, HSPA+ is VERY MUCH "3G".

                                I am hoping
-4.5 to 5.5 inch screen (without exceeding the Dell Streak dimension)

                                -android OS
-minimum 8 mp camera and 1.3 mp front camera
                                -should have inbuilt digital TV
-minimum 1ghz CPU with high graphic
-plus all the standard such as GPS, Radio etc

Should be achievable in year 2011....c'mon HTC, Dell Streak is almost there and the Acer Android coming soon with 4.8" screen...

Currently using the Streak and enjoying it immensely with Froyo with flash...
