I live in New York and my office is at times square. You can imagine the droning noise. I completely agree with your feedback about NC headphones.
As you mentioned, I felt the same regarding the built quality. I found Sony is better. For example, all the screws are exposed on Bose but you can only see the hinges on Sony. Also the headband is metal unlike bose. The earcups are covered with leather but the qc35 is aluminum built.
I would suggest you to try both at least for couple days and then make the decision.

Roy, 27 Nov 2016I tried QC35 and MDR 1000x both before making the decision.... moreThanks for review Roy, I was hoping someone would post a comparison between the Sony and Bose. I have owned two pairs of Bose QC15s (classic, still good today really), and loved them SO much, but sold them after we moved from our noisy office.
I like the ability to control playback and volume easily from the Sony and assume the build quality is slightly better? The Bose were a bit plasticy. I do plan to try both in John Lewis (UK) anyway to make a final call. I always get more work done when I have noise cancelling headphones on, the brain likes serenity! :)
To anyone reading this who has never experience noise cancellation, it is THE best investment you will ever make if you need silence as part of your work, or like a good nap when you travel. You'll be three times as productive and they will pay for themselves! Never mind the other benefits such as being able to sleep in aircraft, trains etc. (Be warned, don't miss your station when the announcement comes on! I did once and ended up in Staines at midnight instead of Reading! Funny, init!

AnonD-39937, 27 Nov 2016Sony Xperia XZ is truly great phone, but I can't understand... moreI hear some talk about the blueish white colour of xperia screen but they keep forgetting that blue colour is almost like Sony's signature/trademark colour. If u observe, almost everything about Sony including PlayStation home screen, PlayStation adverts and virtually every Sony product and packaging has blue colour on then. There's no problem or issue with all xperia screen, its simply a conscious decision by there engineers and personally I love the blue stint rather than warm colours/picture. This is what true fan means.

what ? name me... moreI don't think its a mass movement for now, but if the obsession with thinness continues, we will start seeing it from other manufacturers. For now, the Oppo R5, Moto Z, HTC Bolt all have no headphone jacks.
Also, being a thinness issue, it may be the feature flagship Android phones will tout.

Aa, 27 Nov 2016Goes better with Sony XZ... LDAC. Forget IPhone. Sony Xperia XZ is truly great phone, but I can't understand why they prefere blue white balance at screen and camera, normal white balance or a bit warm looks a lot better and lively.

This headphone is excellent. Unfortunately it isn't as comfortable as the Bose QC35 to wear for long periods
