Additionally, it's said to be near-bezelless, and 7.5mm thick.

Just don't do sth stupid as "removing the bezels", bezels are needed in a tablet, since without bezels there is no way you can actually hold a tablet. Also, I don't like the idea of removing the Home button, although I almost never use it, it really comes in handy sometimes.

well.... I don't think there won't be any home button at all... I think it'll be like iPh7. there IS a home button but it's not clickable.

This Sounds more reliable than the previous rumors. A completely new iPad with bigger screen to replace the current one at same size (maybe higher price tag) to test this bezel less design and prepare the market. Then the bigger one with upgraded specs and an overhauled iPad mini with all the things from the other iPad Pros (Apple Pencil and Keyboard support, stereo speakers, ...) as entry level iPad. And the new 10.9 inch as 9.7 in successor

bezelfree phones is one thing, but a a tablet will be unwieldy

the gesture that already build in on ios for ipad already enough to void using home button (easily broken) , and can used assistive touch on screen for shortcut button .. and it quite easy and more faster than using home button .. but apple must improve the gesture sensitive

soo its not a big problem if apple get rid home button for ipad ... and of course people have practice to get used to it ...

                          My next tablet.

I mean I hate iOS but android makers gave up on tablets and they are woefully behind times (all of them).

And since there is no better way to conduct research than a tablet (read academic papers, on the go or otherwise) this iPad is the only choice really.

I'd really wish that Android makers would also be manufacturing niche items (as tablets clearly are), but alas they're not, instead we get cookie cutter phones (as if the 10th slight variation of the same phone was not enough).
