Samsung Pay was postponed because MST is not secure and UK banks (that spent millions upgrading to chip & pin) really do not see the point in going back to unsecure technologies just to help Samsung sell more phones

Anonymous, 30 Nov 2016Correct. The delay here is the attitude banks in the UK hav... moreThe reason is Corporate America again.Samsung MST tech woul have worked everywhere an cleared the board of competition, so, good ol' "a" , got to visa, and prevented for no good reason Samsung using MST in the Uk, even though its on the machines already. Net result, Samsungs "Ace" neutralised.Samsung release delayed,Samsung's American corporate competion allowed a free head start at the customers, and Samsung casterated, reduced to being only as useful as a#ple and go#gle ,and ñot satisfied with robbing the customers of the best functioning service on the market, they cripple it to being a year late in release.
Is that Trump for President, I hear you say, or was it drain the sw....... ?

The sad thing is in UK no one really use MST anymore like it's all chip and pin or contactless everywhere now. I use to work in asda wallmart and I can actually say in over 20 months only like 1 customer actually used the magnetic strip. So I don't get why Samsung are fighting to use it when no one is really going to use it. Oh well Android pay works fine on my S6 and S7 edge so I don't see the point of Samsung pay anymore. Bringing it now is pretty pointless really. especially here in UK.

ollyb1, 30 Nov 2016UK banks don't issue cards without the chip built-in so for... moreCorrect. The delay here is the attitude banks in the UK have, not Samsung. Samsung would have LOVED to roll this out long ago... People are missing the mark on who they should be upset with.

UK banks don't issue cards without the chip built-in so for Sammy to bring Sammy pay to the UK with the magnetic strip payment is going backwards for them so not worth it

Why is so difficult to implement payments with phone? I am waiting for this for years and nothing happens.

Ah way to go samsung, nothing like allowing your competitors to get ahead, u should really have negotiated with these banks before rolling out the product, at least be in the final stages of negotiations before selling it to the world, this was advertised alongside the galaxy s6 amd its in reality going to be at least march alongside the S8 before we in the uk see samsung pay adopted, stupid really, android pay works for me buy beimg able to maximise mobile shopping with mst was a real selling point, one thats rapidly dwindling....
