AnonD-513998, 02 Dec 2016No they aren't. The reason why standard powerbanks like the... morethe point is with a 3d printer and what i ahve in my room right now I bet I can make it for 10$ or less. a flat battery costs around 1-3$ for 4200mah battery. and 1-2$ more for charging circuit(if the phone doesn't already have it) and 1-2$ for a step up(if the phone needs it which I guess it does! but I wish they just kept using the moto mod as main battery and when it was over switched to internal. that way you would get aorund 5-8% more battery life(at least, not to mention other stuff) )

I don't see what costs so much!

Where is s7edge now ? Mine is sold. And moto z force droid delviery date is in 10 days. I'm so glad of my choice of change.

AnonD-190634, 02 Dec 2016woah, You can buy a 10400 battery for less than 40$! (xiaom... moreNo they aren't. The reason why standard powerbanks like the xiaomi one are so damn cheap is because they use standard battery cells (called 18650 cells) which can also be used in other products, so they just order thousands of them and they are really cheap to begin with because they are produced in masses.
The moto mod, however, uses a different battery, probably one that has to be specifically made to fit inside the moto mod (since it's so small), and not only that, those moto mods ONLY fit on moto Z smartphones and since not many of em are being sold, you'd expect not many of the mods to be sold either so that drives up the whole cost (rule of mass production). the more you produce something of something, the cheaper it gets. When you take all of this into consideration, then the moto mods really aren't that overpriced. If anything, your cheap xiaomi powerbanks are way overpriced when you consider how all their components are produced en masse. you'd expect them to be cheaper.

Wouldn't cold/hot air eventually shorten battery life, and in some cases make phone not work?

and 60$ for just a piece of plastic? The mods are really really overpriced!

Someone Else, 02 Dec 2016Seeing that they had just released another MotoMods, I can ... moreThe fact is that these are more convenient than the LG Friends. They look like they were made for it (in the sense that they look like natural extensions of it), while the LG Friends were not. And besides, the Mods are more useful than the Friends (Seriously, the CAM Plus thing is useless, while the two others just looks weird)
An other thing is that the G5 was not successful at all, while the Moto Z line-up was a moderate success. It would've been better with a worldwide release of the Force variant, but it is still a good phone.

Seeing that they had just released another MotoMods, I can say that this is way more successful than LG G5's Friends.
