They dont develop anything. They dont do collaboration. Look at Samsung. Samsung collaborate with Oculus to make Gear VR. Samsung dont even need to buy any vr company to become successful in vr industry. And Apple need to buy Amoled display from Samsung for their next iphone. See. They dont develop anything. They dont even try. Apple is a lazy company.

Apple newer was an innovative company, they are good in improving proven technology to near-perfect, packaging, and selling it for outrageous prices. I wouldn't count on them for at least another year or so (although when they do join the VR party it might be a game changer, just because how good their marketing is).

AnonD-308243, 09 Dec 2016all this fuss over what is essentially a view master -_-Yeah, that is what I was telling to those celebrating for the building of the biggest super computer a few weeks backs... I told them "what are you celebrating for? It's essentially a pocket calculator". Of course they laughed at me, but that is the most they know...

This is no different. As you well wrote, it's essentially a view master. Similarly my car is a cart too, that is why I stopped driving it, I'm driving no cart anytime soon, I actually sold.

My toothbrush is just multiple picks (I threw it away). Heck, my clothes are esentially sheets of material. I burned them all...

What you just wrote is so wise, I just hope that you opened the eyes oF many.

I think VR is the best opportunity for apple to prove the world that they can still innovate and lead industry. VR tech is still at nascent stage and has a lot of scope for improvement. Removing headphones jack for making phones a millimeter thinner and calling it a bold move is so not Apple. Fingers crossed.

Finally! The world vr industry have united. This new association will standardized all vr headset according to approved specs and quality they have come to agree upon. Kudos to GVRA!

Love it! Can't wait to see what the future holds for this newly formed association. Should be great.

I hope they have the right vision.
VR is not really a good name for this kind of product.
It does and can do things that are note VR related.

I want to see support for 3D blu-rays.
                          And other HDMI sources.
A way to make "VR" glasses the new main screen at home.

I also hope they start including sterescopic camera set-ups on VR equipment, to enable "see through" and to enhance Agumented Reality.

"VR" technology if developed in the right direction can be the foundation for future smart glasses.
if VR technology is used to learn how to use augumented reality for smart glasses.
See through displays are not good enough yet. But they will be some day, and learning how to position augumented reality elements in the visual field, to be ready when that happens is a good strategy. With VR and sterescopic camera set-ups that is possible.

Also stereswcopic cameras can be used for better mapping out a space. I can't understand why google tango uses a single camera. it has additional depth sensor and IR camera, but at least the main camera should be a dual set-up to mimic our own vison.

There is lot of potential, for this in medical, and industry applications, if the reserach is good.
And this time, both personal users, and professionals would benefit from the same kind of reserach.
