From the article:

"We haven’t seen a major smartwatch release in a while and we won’t expect any until well into next year."

The Samsung Gear S3 was released in November 2016. That is last month.

Doesn't matter. Huawei is still sold in many places and if you got once while it was on discount on black friday then you are lucky.

It will receive android wear 2.0 as well so it will be ok for another year or so.

would be nice if it were easier to find accessories though...

This thing doesn't even have ambient light sensor. Yes, you have to adjust brightness manually. It's stupid.

Meh. I seen a lot of people wearing counterfeit Apple watch. Its cheaper and runs on android wear. Probably cost 1/10 of a branded smartwatch. Off-brand smartwatches are taking smartwatch market by a big margin.

A phone can arleady do almost everything that we can expect from an electronic device. Tracking fitness is well catered for as well and we have the Samsung flagships that even have a heart rate and blood oxygen monitor for those casual fitness sessions. And these watches are so bloody expensive! With some even costing the same as a flagship phone. Why spend that much on something that is just supposed to be a partner to your main phone?
