It was announced last October of 2014 :) those Moto Z, Moto Z Force and Le Eco phones are just recently announced and released this year.

I've tried many android phones because they were 'good value' but in the end, i went back to Samsung, starting with the s6 edge and now the s7 edge. no regrets. samsung makes deliciously good hardware, with state of the art features. It is easy to forget that the s6 edge, which debuted nearly 2 years ago, already had wireless charging, a super slim metal body and is still working really well now. It can also drive the samsung oculus VR headset! I'm not sure if I would buy the s8 edge though - both the s6 and 7 edge are still working really well, no obvious reason to upgrade.

Obviously it will be a good thing, because the more technology included in the S8 the better it will be. But, it is just the tip of the iceberg, because Samsung must include all all all the best technology available so far, without any limitation
