Verizon changes its mind, will issue Note7 update that prevents charging on January 5

15 December 2016
That's actually the same release date for the new software as AT&T's, and earlier than Sprint's.

people still use this after sammy told em not to?
Well we hit a new record on people's stupidity. I can't believe this, sammy told no, bring it back it's dangerous. And people say no?
Well.. they better have fire extinguishers nearby..

Even if you plug in the charger, there is no current received by the phone. Your battery simply dies because its unrechargeable. And thats my friend the very reason why manufacturer introduce unremovable battery. So that they can control everything of their phone. If the battery was removable you would have easily charged it with external charger then put it back in.

Samsung put Note 7 User in higher risk. since device will only able to power via charging port. mean longer time user will connect the charger to phone even in 30% capped situation. come up with more solid solution. user will be convince to returned not by forcing. this forcing update also demonstrated Samsung can quietly brick any of phone they produce without customer concern. or worst even stealing any customer info. or disable some of the phones function/ made the phone look like faulty after warranty period for increase repair revenue.

These updates I guess are useless... If someone would know to update a phone then he would be smart enough to hear about the exploding issues... He would obviously have returned the phone... There are some people who don't know to update the phone and that's the thing because only 90% of the note 7's are not returned... The right thing should be all the note 7's IMEI no should be blocked... If they couldn't call through their note 7 then obviously they would visit a service centre...

You are not going to get any security updates or any Android upgrades. One can stop killer update from Samsung but soon telecom provider will stop all note 7 from connecting their network.
And smart people don't want to be stuck with phone which can only be used paperweight.

Samsung can't do anything without Verizon's blessing, how sad.
