15 December 2016
The two companies have already cooperated on the DTEK50 and DTEK60 handsets, and now BlackBerry's withdrawal from making hardware is official.

I come from using android & ios phones over the past 4 years. I was never a bb fan or as for matter any company and for the past month I have been using bb passport and i come to 2 major conclusions
    1) I challenge any android touchscreen user to use physical qwerty even for whatsapp or instagram for 2 days and then to go back on touchscreen again. Physical keypad is world apart and with Passport BB has done an immense job.
    2) BB10 has allowed me to install most of the android apps i need such as whatsapp, My scans, maps, Instagram even my banking apps with ease of use and zero lags and hangs
I kinda fail to understand the fanaticism or excessive criticism of any companies, but rather enjoy the evolution of any different OS and form factors of the phone. Quite frankly i dont even feel any difference between the Android phones of diff companies even small companies make a samsung look alike and put the same feel of android.
On the contrary i feel after using android for 4 years these phones are advertisement box of google ads you are carrying along 24 x 7 as most of the free apps now only function with ad features.

Well, let's wait and see how would TCL position the Blackberry brand worldwide. Personally I'm quite satisfied with the Dtek60. Here's the link of the announcement though.. http://www.tclcom.com/admin/documents/cnews/BlackBerry%20Secures%20Global%20Smart%20Phone.pdf

I guess they are remembered as being on the right side of history, given how well Nokia has held their undisputed leadership. /s

First step to death: switching to an inferior, non-business OS. (Android)
Second step to death: not making their hardware anymore

Goodbye BlackBerry! You will be missed - along with the awesome BBOS.

Blackberry continues to die a slow death. CEO Chen should have been fired last year. He has no vision and has been less than honest about the future of Blackberry OS 10 and the Z line.

I believe they will have a local manufacturing partner in Indonesia due to a strict (and NOT reasonable) Gov regulation of requiring to do so. The quality of the 'local' product will be questionable at best. And the warranty is merely just a formality on paper.

Don't bother to listen the voice of ultranationalists who say support local product or move out of the country. Well, when they turn a blind eye of the quality and less than ideal capability of local manufacturers, their propaganda is no more than a moot point.
